Hi!

We will be holding a mass test on Singularity on Thursday, May 16th, at 17:00 UTC (= EVE time).

What exactly is being tested?
  • New features for Odyssey
  • New jump and pod death transitions

How to connect to Singularity for this test:

Test steps:
Probably similar to:

  • Meet in FD-MLJ at the gate to X-BV98
  • Jump to X-BV98
  • Warp to POS and kill the tower
  • Fleet W: Jump to Poitot and prepare gate camp
  • Fleet X: Jump into the gate-camp and fight
  • Short NPC bash at planet 1

What else should I know?
  • We will be moving players to the test system - join the channel massmoveme for this
  • Please bring a good mix of ships
  • Skill points will be awarded on Singularity for this mass test
  • The server population will be capped at 650 to avoid too heavy time dilation, make sure to log in early enough.

Sad, I will get home only at that time. No time to prepare and join for mass test. I was looking forward to attending my first mass test. Hope there is one soon in the future... Good luck to all attendees...

PS: It would be good if the dev corrected the time from April to May. Nothing major...

A mirror has been requested, but I am afraid that it will not be ready in time for this mass test.

It would be helpful if someone answers this questions.
1.) Is the time UTC 1700 the time for the meetup or the time for the start of the test?
2.) If I am five minutes late (ie. 17:05), will I still be able to take part in the mass test - considering the server is not capped out?

Thanks in advance for any answers...

Part 1:
UTC 1700 tends to be the start, most people log-in early to avoid part 2.
Due to the use of fleets, we get organized during this time. Fleet X and Fleet W(Y,Z,etc...)

Part 2:
If you're even slightly late expect to get stuck in a log-in queue that lasts forever.

Some details from Team Pony Express about changes to ship and pod death:

CCP Masheen wrote:
Dearest space-faring colleagues,

If you thought all the secrets of Odyssey were revealed at Fanfest then it is my pleasure to tell you they were not. Team Pony Express are planning on dropping some seriously exciting changes onto the Singularity Test Server for a Mass Test on Thursday (Watch for posts from CCP Habakuk for exact time + details)

CCP Nimbus, CCP karkur and the ever-sarcastic CCP PrismX have been furiously coding new Ship & Pod death sequences that we're hoping will be ready in time for Odyssey's release on June 4th.

In the same vein as the new seamless stargate jump transitions, this work is a part of our drive to "fill in the gaps" in the flow of common EVE gameplay. The goal was that your ship would better inform you when it is in serious peril. It never felt very 'Sci-Fi' that your ship wouldn't make much of a fuss out of being blown to smithereens so we've fixed that.

In the last moments of being blown up your ship UI/HUD will look a lot more like it does in the EVE Origins trailer (at 3:23)

These new animated UI elements are tied to the existing Audio Alerts. We have created this feature with extensive player customization, some features we choose to be pre-calibrated but with this feature you will have options. You can set the thresholds at which you are warned or disable them completely and the new UI has been designed to fit with all other existing HUD elements.

Pod death will never be the same again either, before now it has always been somewhat underwhelming . You are immediately removed from the fight and a couple of seconds later you're back in station. This experience has been replaced by this new sequence:

Quote:
As the smoke clears from your decimated capsule your terminally wounded corpse will now be shown gently spinning as life slips away and your camera drones offline. You have a moment to reflect on your unfortunate demise and take in the scenery one last time before a new clone is activated and your consciousness is transferred.

These features are a work in progress and we'd like to get your feedback, please log into Sisi on Thursday to try them out for yourself.

Last dev comment i saw on the reactivations was "we're going to do a mirror soon so it's waste of time to do both"... then a comment about a mirror happening last week, then friday... then... well... any returning player since the last mirror (March 20th) is currently locked out Sad

edit: obviously missed the comment a few posts up... lol! Big smile

Curiosity killed the Kata... ... but being immortal he wasn't too worried about keeping a count.

I'd love to help out! If only my account were active on SiSI...

edit: I don't want to whine too much, but if the last mirror was on April 9th, approx 700 people have asked for reactivation in the meantime.

Just reiterating: more than 700 people have asked for reactivation. 700. That is a lot of people

edit: to be clear, that's a real life time period of a MONTH and more

I would like to Know if I will still get 2mil skill points if I only test, what you have new, for an hour. Because I have to go to work at 18h eve time.

The mass test typically lasts for just one hour.

We are currently deploying a last-minute patch and Singularity should be up soon.

We also changed the test steps, this is the current version:

Test steps:
1. Meet in 6-CZ49 at the gate to 6E-578
2. Jump to 6E-578
3. Jump to MHC-R3
4. Warp with your fleet to a planet
5. Use the titan jump-bridge
6. Use the titan jump-bridge, back to MHC-R3
7. Short fight
8. Jump to 6E-578
9. Fight at gate
Maybe: 10. Warp to a different location and more PVP

Hey Haba, with the Singularity client being extremely unstable for Mac OSX, any news on when the patch for that issue is going to be released?

Because I'd like to participate but may crash within the first 5 minutes of the mass test.
