Theres certain level 5s you can just blitz and others that aren't gated that you can drop a carrier on. For the gated missions I've done Nightmare or Machariel with a basilisk and for others you need 2 logi.

You can browse through http://eve-survival.org/wikka.php?wakka=MissionReports and have a look at the level 5s.

Carrier lvl5 farm was so... 5 years ago. That fat carrier and its swarm of drones will be scanned down in no time, and a flash blob will gather to get on that km.Pirate

Wait do I post in EVERY L5 mission thread?

I must have missed at least one.

To the OP.

With the NPC aggro change a while back, L5s have become a bit more complicated.

Single ship options.
1) Select missions that can be blitzed before the NPCs have time to shoot you. There are only a couple missions that this will work for.

2) Rattlesnake / Sentry Carrier still work (NPCs don't target sentry drones for the most part)
Ishtar/Gila if you fly it really well, but the dps is kinda low.
These ships *may* attract a bit of attention based upon where you mission.

3) Small cheap fleet.
These days I run 3x Domi (armor tanked with remote reps) + 1 Auguror giving energy to everyone.
There are lots of variations on this theme, but take advantage of the massive cap that a Auguror can transfer (hint it's more than a carrier).

No matter which of these options you pick keep the following in mind.

1) Know you missions. Some can be blitzed, some can't. Stick to the missions that can be blitzed

2) Know the locals. You can complete most missions in less than 5 minutes with the 3x Domi / 1 Auguror Fleet. It takes about 45 seconds for a good scanner to scan you down (assuming you have 2x ECCM on each boat). Most scrubs will not get a lock before you complete the mission, so make sure you know the people who aren't scrubs and go eat a sandwich while they are in system.
