On board scanner picks up nothing?

I've taken my ship to a few systems where i know ice anoms should spawn and have hit the on board scanner. It greys out for 10 seconds without a countdown, then it says nothing detected.

Can someone explain what is wrong here?

Just add new filter and check all you need to find.
In default "Show All" filter all options are disabled and it show nothing at all.

This bug is acknowledged in the official feedback thread. Clicking the little blue Dev flags helps you keep up.

With the increase in shiptoasting, the Report timer needs to be shortened.
