Meh...another ISK sink. Doesn't bother me any. It's not like they will be able to play both characters at the same time anyway.

The bigger question is will we get a button to log out the character and get back to the character selection screen?

Quoting for emphasis. Please do this. Don't make me bite my monitor every time I want to use that nice new shiny alt.

You didn't say it loud enough, so i fixed.

Excepting broker fees and sales taxes from an increased number of plex sales, this is not an isk sink.

It is, however, a PLEX sink. Which may make it more difficult for people to maintain their subscriptions by PLEX.
On the other hand whenever PLEX prices go up, people are more inclined to buy them from CCP to finance their in-game activities, so it partially balances out. It all depends on where the new equilibrium is.

Enjoying the rain today? ;)

I've been out of the game awhile. Initially, this change didn't look all that great. A nice option, but nothing groundbreaking.

Now that I've had a chance to look over the new training requirements resulting from the tiericide initiative, I see that there are several categories of characters who will be only a few weeks away from flying entire classes of other ships on June 4th. For example, a current freighter pilot will be able to get into an orca with just one extra skill trained to V, and any pilot flying anything above sub cap will be two very short steps away from flying freighters. There are plenty of other examples. While many of us are thinking in terms of the old ways of account management and account planning (which are still valid, but increasingly difficult to maintain without true passive income sources), this new option provides an interesting way to branch your existing characters out into new ship lines and quickly get into gear for the future of EVE. Perhaps this is step one on the path to fewer accounts and fewer fleets of alts. It looks like the future of EVE is more like other MMOs where players have true sub-professions. Anyway, interesting stuff. BTW: I'm totally sold on tiericide, excellent stuff.

Hey all,

RubberBAND here from the team implementing this feature. First apologies that you have not seen a Dev Blog about this. We had planned for one to go just prior to Fanfest, but that plan fell through. We hope to have a Dev Blog out sometime soon, but we don't have an ETA for you all yet.

To answer some of the questions in this thread, we are very interested in feedback regarding this feature and how useful you may find it. As most have figured out, this is a short term option for people who want to train an alt on their account without having to maintain two (or more) accounts.

If you are training two characters and the dual character in training runs out, the character with fewest skill points is assumed to be the alt and will be paused, while your character with more skill points will continue training.

Anyway expect more information soon, till then keep this thread rolling.

JUST DO IT ... its a WIN, WIN for CCP

(on a lighter note the bean counters on the CCP board may be so short-sighted to think that subscribed account number is more important as its a hard number, but i assure you there are lots people who have have alts (lots were bought/transferred) who they will want to skill up to access other non complementary skills to their mains on the same account, and it also drives the PLEX market both in and out of game)

already dead, just haven´t fallen over yet....

As far as I can tell this changes very little, for big trains the build with power of two than tranfer is more effecient, the alt is not availbale simotaneusly with the other charate on the account, etc.

It will be a huge benefit for the cases where you just want to attach a 30 day training alt to an exixting account or when an already attached alt, just needs a few more skill to repurpose him for a duty, or when CCP changes some rules/skills.

Me neither.

I currently have my four main accounts reactivated, and if I'm not saving any money by condensing them down to two, then why would I bother? Right now I have the holy trinity flying together with one to spare. Why not keep the option to be able to fly as many of them together as I can if the cost is the same either way?

They need to make it cost less for the second character on an account-- quite a bit less. As I'm paying $8 and change per month per account (got the 1 year promo on each account), this new option would have to be significantly less money than that.

How about this; Instead of training 2 characters on one account, allow us to use PLEX's to open more character slots on one account. (3 slots become 5 or 6).

Or be able to use PLEX's to allow account item sharing and viewing. Something mutually beneficial for all of us to get our money's/PLEX's worth You Greedy Bastards.....X

I like this feature. It's good for a "single use" type alt, where you just train it to the point you need, and leave it alone. A separate acct would need to be plexed/subbed to keep access. This will let me train, for example, a hauler, and have it always be available on my main acct.

Or a super-cap holding char. No reason not to get one now.
