Nothing new to see here.

I really pity those Factional Warfare guys. That one will be the next one to get chopped, mark my words.

DIAF!!

We're getting a ****-tonne of fixes this expansion. That some stuff has to be held back to early-2012 is no cause for whining.

"Give them some slack, and we can get FW/AF next time."

been hearing that stuff for several years now. FW was released broken. PI was released broken, Cosmos was released broken. CQ was released broken. fixing 1 thing now and then while releasing more broken **** constantly just creates a giant backlog of stuff "that we'll get next time"

the time for giving slack is long past.

The winter expansion page has it listed that in my mind is a strong declaration.
Always ... Never ... Forget to check your references.   Peace out Zulu! Hope you land well!

To those angry about AF being kicked down the curb, know that CCP has done something NEW here. They told us ahead of time and mentioned that they are still working on it, rather than delete it from the patch notes after download. I thank you CCP for the new open stance.

I would really like to hear a 1 or 2 sentence reason why you can't just slap a 4th bonus on them and call it a day. Are you redesigning their role? Are you changing something else which makes you need to be more cautious with these frigs?

i dont know who you are, but ive been a customer since 2004. this product not changing in a productive direction over the last two years has caused a lot of people to leave. this means for two years, the "development" of FiS has not actually occurred.

getting back into developing FiS is like getting back into exercising after a long break. thoughts and actions are a little disconnected and unproductive.

so as i said, i am looking forward to being proven wrong when some amazing changes come our way. hopefully. maybe. probably not.

Agree - this is something new.

I would rather know when mistakes have been made as soon as possible than login on patch day board my jaguar and find its the same hunk of junk I bought in 2009.

It is not good business policy to make claims that can not be delivered on - its even worse if you then ignore any discussion of those claims and hope issues will go away.

By allowing the angry frigate pilots to vent now, patch day angst will be reduced.

That has been in the database for a long time. And its not a scram its a disruptor.Scrams have an "activationBlock" (iirc) attribute.

But 19km scrams should be possible, if expensive, post patch assuming nothing changes.

I highlighted the parts where your though process went astray. Perhaps you missed...

Quote:
I want to make it clear that this is not a final list. As we go through design and implementation phases some things may require more work than initially expected and others may not hold water in the design phase and therefore may not make it into this particular expansion. Similarly some things might get added to the list. We will keep you updated on our progress every step of the way because, as Hilmar said, communication is one of the things we are dedicated to improve.

You also missed the part of this thread where they said it wouldn't be out in the first release. It was included in the part of this thread where they communicated their current status, just as they said they would.

We really wanted to do Assault Frigate improvements for Winter 2011 but it will not make it into the first release. We are aiming to make it happen sometime after the initial release but at this stage we simply cannot commit to a date.

This is something that we really want to do so you can be assured that it has not been forgotten.

Remember Incursions, remember how it had three separate releases over a few months? Remember how CCP are doing staggered releases now?

The above quote doesn't say AF improvements are dropped, or will be done in the far future. Navigator is just simply saying that it won't be in the first release, but they're hoping to do it for the Winter expansion releases after.

Besides, would you rather they rushed it in time for the first release and screw it up, or wait a month or two for a good result?

True enough but I think we can all remember similar comments that AFs would get a revision last year, and the proceeding years before that.

Im not doubting they're a hard nut to crack sitting somewhere around the role of cruisers/destroyers. Personally Id like to seem them get some form of 'assault' capability - maybe allow them to jump to cynos or something like that but views of others will differ.

If you were to list the 'big wants' (FW, PI, Hybrids, BlackOps) you'd certainly include AFs in there at some point.

That's a storyline warp disruptor, not a scram; it's been around for ages and can be looked up in EFT. The fact that it says WarpScramble is misleading, much like the notification that "xxx has started trying to warp scramble yyy" when you point someone.

On topic, bah. No 4th bonus for AFs + silly destroyer overbuff = sadness.

Problem is that argumentation has been used for four years and comes up every time CCP makes an aborted attempt (or even mentions) some high-profile fix. Read the post AF-AB-Boost threads if you don't believe me, CCP said they'd "be right back" and " back to drawingboard" or some equally disarming blurp and we all took it as face value .. can't speak for others but I am not buying the party line any more .. all their spin-doctor drivel has turned what good will there was into bad blood.
