If you are in the Australia or New Zealand region and you are thinking about playing Dust 514 be aware that you will pay more than 50% more for ingame items.

This is a issue that CCP and Sony are failing to address and is gross profiteering.

that's pretty standard in AU tbh.
All games cost more.

Real shame but I do know much of it can be blamed on your own government.

On a funny note, even your avatar looks kinda pissed off.

Re-read it, this is for in game items, not the game itself.

I was going to pick up Dust 514 and give it a go but if this is the case I won't bother, everything else I play charges you in US dollars for in game items and it is the same price as US players, you only have to factor in the exchange rate.

Which is never that good for us NZ players, but for you AU players you are pretty much on $1 to $1 Cry

it's not unusual for digital products in australia to cost up to twice the price as in the US

This is not CCP's fault. This is because of the way Sony sets their store prices down here.

But yes it is bullshit that we have to pay more

ah, this too

Quote:
Consumer group Choice looked at more than 200 hardware and software products and found Australians pay on average 50 per cent more. This includes a 70 per cent mark-up on AC/DC album Back in Black on iTunes, while a copy of Adobe's CS6 Design and Web Premium suite costs $3175 in Australia versus $US1899 ($A1820).

"There is no justification for Australians paying more than consumers in the United States for identical products," said Choice head of campaigns Matt Levey.

Even for us it's not too bad - NZ 0.82 - US 1.0

Its mainly the PS store's fault. I saw Mass Effect 2 for $99.95 (This is after Mass Effect 3 came out mind you) I could have just bought a retail version of the game for about $20. I assume its pretty much the same for DUST.

Now, more than ever, we need a dislike button.

DUST is free though. You don't have to buy anything.

It's called "adjusting the price to the aussie market" which means jack up the price because everyone else jacks up the price for all the things. Look at any product you can imagine and you will see we pay more. It's infuriating.

I'm not sure that it is completely outside CCP's control. This thread has some suggested solutions.

It's not the government at fault. It's the deliberate choice of particular companies.

The game itself is the same price everywhere! It's free! Big smile
