Upon processing, you opted for the lump sum which means you had to pay the taxes up front. It was discovered that you haven't filed your income tax for the past 10 years. The amount owed on the winnings, plus your back taxes, plus fees summed was more than you won. Your lottery win put you in the hole a few thousand dollars.
