Can't connect to the server

For some reason it shows as if the server is down, gives a status unknown. I have no other connection issues whatsoever. Anyone else having this?

Pingplotter shows the problem is some routing issue outside my control.

Well, there's obviously an issue and it's not me :)

Hate to say it , but no problems here either.

It really does look like something at your end.

Firewall perhaps?

And again it gives me "server is offline". I KNOW it's not, it's a routing issue with some ISP. (earlier posts shows a linky to the culprit).

It's probably a problem with an IP server between your location and the EVE servers, if others are logging on fine and seeing players then it's definitly a problem outside of EVEs servers.

You can download a traceroute program such as Pingplotter and test the connction between you and the servers, where goes red and says the connection stops is where the problem is.

Here's how...

Quote:

Try doing a trace route test to the server router (the server ip itself cannot be pinged). To do this you use a small program called Pingplotter

In order to thoroughly test your connection to the EVE server download the pingplotter program. If you are running a hardware firewall (SPI Firewall) on your router you will need to disable it, as otherwise this program won't work.

After starting up pingplotter do the following in the program:

1) Under "Address to trace" put the following value in the box: 87.237.38.200
2) In the bottom left corner in the box "# of times to trace" put the value 1500
3) In the bottom left corner in the box "Trace Intervals" change it to 2.5 seconds
4) In the bottom left corner in the box "Samples to include" change it to 1500.
5) Click on "Trace" button in the bottom left corner.

This tracert gives you the ping or connection latency at each point it uses to connect to the server, if any of these entries contain latency (shown in ms) above 250 ms as well as high packet loss or packet errors, then you can expect that server connection can be lost occasionally. If this is the case, then there is nothing that we can do about it but we recommend that you contact your Internet Service Provider and inform them about the problem.

(i'll see if i can find the actual server address to ping and edit this post with the info)

That's what I did a few posts up, I'll add it into the OP just to make sure people don't miss it :) Thanks though.

Ah i see it now, well looking at that it looks like your connection is failing before even getting to the eve servers (the server name is srv248-g.ccp.cc and srv200-g.ccp.cc which doesn't even appear on the list), it does seem to be an issue with your IP's routing. Try contacting your ISP and explaining what the issue is and which server it's hanging at and they may be able to contact them and ask them to do something about it.

Somebody else had this same problem the other day.

Might be worth seeing if you can find the post and look for similarities.

Had similar in Australia couple of years back with an ISP putting a block on COH servers. Took a while to work out we all were using the same ISP. Once found, easy fixed.

I contacted my ISP helpdesk and it's amazing how little they know about networking, when one of them tried to convince me that it was indeed me, and that he would send a mechanic to my house to "fix it" (on my expenses ofcourse) I got a bit more explicit asking how how it's possible that a helpdesk guy for an ISP has no clue on what routing is, after which he hung up.

I finally got one who took the time to write it all down, in detail, and send it to the higher up tech guys but not entirely sure how much of a use that's going to be.
