I think it's time.

Time for explosions of large things to have a shockwave.

It's immersion-breaking and kind of dumb (like insurance payouts for suicide ganking and now, for dueling too) that a ship big enough to change the tides on planets can blow up right next to you and nothing happens.

C'mon now.

so you are Stealth-advocating for giving George Lucas a full pardon over this?

What sort of shockwave do you expect in a vacuum?

Two of the defining characteristics of a carebear are wanting other players to play the way the carebear wants and whining on the forums for the game to change when they don't. Yet I see more threads on these forums from gankers than I do miners whining about wanting the game changed to suit them.

I'd like to see more ship progressive destruction, like if the ship gets lasered the hull turns red and burns, when shields get low they flash red and rip now and then etc

the kind that never ends until acted upon by some other force. one thing that would ring true probably.

explosions in space would likely be pretty dull in reality. no oxygen means no fire. at least not one that would last more that a moment. things probably just blast and bust apart with no real fan fare save a few sparks and flashes.

but that's reality.

this is a game.

i support giving us pretty explosions to look at.

My girlfriend wants more impact in her explosions too, so we bought this warning gel, and she is much happier with the explosions.

Perhaps rub some warming gel on to your monitor?

Now with 100% less Troll.

I do find it interesting that Sansha ships explode with a green flame.

Copper burns green. It's also a great conductor of electricity.

Sansha = Weak to EM damage.

Coincidence?

I agree with making explosions more awesome.

I want to see the ship come apart when they explode! In fact, It'd be kind of be cool to make the wrecks look like a destroyed version of the hull, with bits of it floating about.

I miss the old ship explosions and the old torp explosions. Seems to be a downward spiral in the explosive department.

I really loved the old torp explosions, the original ones that spread across a single flat plane, they should probably do something like that but spreading outwards as a sphere/ball of light only a massive one that fades gracefully into space.

Please art devs, iterate the explosions again - gives us ones with some visual impact again.

Explosions should be colour code to the type of damage given, that would be nice. White flash, then a colour bubble flash, then star burst burning debris bursting the bubble.Cool No sound, in space we can't hear your pain.

They took away the awesome explosions (pre retribution) and replaced them with a fizzle firecracker effect. People complained, no dev replied..

It's been 6 months and still nothing from CCP.

I'm guessing we're not getting anything out of this. Why can't they just admit it was a downgrade instead of a good change?

Reason you don't get good explosions?

CCP doesn't want to do anything until they can actually make ships break apart on the engine. Which they could do now, but EVE players are cheap old bastards that refuse to upgrade their dinosaur PC's.

Personally I think CCP should give them the finger and just upgrade the game already or its never going to happen. Old people are goddamn stubborn.

Not to mention generally useless to society.

I know there are a lot of people that don't have high end PC's like we do, but when they released Trinity back in '07 you had the option to run the old client graphics or the updated ones. Surely they can do the same with an explosion/wreck style option in the menus.

Besides all of that, EVE will run on ancient hardware. Any decent PC made within the past 4 years can get at least 60 fps on the highest settings. I get well over 400 if I don't have vsync on.
