From what i understood we capsuleers only use ISK. But on planets for non space faring people they have their own currency.

Like Caldari factory workers get payed in near worthless vouchers and worker currency. But are worth alot less than ISK. 5000 ISK is more than most workers make in years.

In Amarr slaves are currency.

its simple look at the EU most of them use EURO so all 4 empires agreed to use the same currency so it was easyer for them to trade cross all regions of their empires ???

ISK is Intersteller Kredit. It's designed for inter-empire and space trade.

Different planets (or corporations in the State) have their own local currencies. However a single ISK is worth a very large amount of these planetary currencies, so we seldom deal with them since they're just too small for us to use.

Pretty much this.

Aside from making my epeen grow due to larger numbers, having 590 bazillion googleplex trillion Amarrian religion monies and 14 trillion apple date monkey purple Gallente Orgy Credits isn't going to give me any more buying power than I have now. In fact, given exchange rates, it would probably give me less.

I came to the thread expecting a ridiculous suggestion, was not dissapointed.

But God Dammit now I want Orgy Credits!

It makes no sense that warring empires would be attached to the same currency.

Why don't we have four different kinds of isk?

Caldari ISK would be given for caldari misisons and bounties on caldari-based rats.

Gallente ISK for gallente stuff.

so on and so forth.

This would introduce interesting gameplay to the game in the form of currency trading(it would also make the Currency Column mean something.

The old isk in the game would be 1:1 convertable via NPCs for racial isk, but would not be able to be spend on the market anymore.

When setting up a buy or sell order, you would have to select which current you are selling the goods for.

We can travel from one side of the galaxy ('cluster' whatever) to the other in less time than it takes for a New Yorker to go see trees. Why shouldn't we all use ISK?

RP: Concord or something

Design: CCP didn't want to design currency markets at the beginning, and has not wanted to spend the time since then.

I like the idea of multiple currencies. It would add a nice bit of national separation which is sometimes lacking. I think that the systems would be relatively simple to design. The current market could be quickly modified to add in that level of complexity. It would add another aspect to consider when trading. The complexity and additional steps needed to purchase things might discourage some players.

The Interstellar Kredit is capsuleer fiat money, used so that we don't destabilise the known universe of EvE. Also, it was a nifty way of putting the króna into the game.

There are quite a few difficult aspects to separating currency at this stage of the game's life. You'd have to separate the markets (presumably changing the buy/sell orders to whatever faction holds the system), figure out how to convert all the player ISK into multiple currency (let them decide? what about their active buy/sell orders?), and create methods of acquiring these currencies. It is a cool idea in theory. Other games have it, and it would give incentive for people to explore more of empire space (and perhaps beyond.) But from a technical point of view, it would take some serious effort to implement.

We have AUR, PLEX, ISK, CCP will take $ and Euro just as well. One would think the Jove have a different type. Certain goods are so stable in price they could basically be considered currency as well. As for the empires, I don't see why it would be necessary. One could argue Inter Stellar K(....) was agreed upon by all 4 to be the universal currency in all of the EVE-universe.

Reopen the EVE gate so we can invade Serenity. Goons can go first.

Ah yes, they're kind of like Saint Columba. If you don't talk about them every now and again people forget about them.
