Liang was the master ship outfitter and yet I see no posts in these forums. Did Liang quit?

Got banned during the rage back in summer, unbanned again but refused to come back. I think he plays rift atm, you can catch him sometimes posting on FHC.

Liang got banned, for what and for how long I do not know. It happened during the shitstorm over the incarna nex rollout and the worries of P2W. I'm sure it was an overreaction on CCPs part. It was McCarthy-esque times.

With Hilmar's recent apology I would hope Liang would return. With each passing day I fear either the ban was extreme or Liang said fuckit to the game. Hopefully someone will have more info, and CCP will not come down like a ton of bricks for "discussing moderation." If I knew the particulars I would say and tell the forum moderators to ban me too.Evil

Chances are pretty low:

I'm not going to say that a personal apology in my email inbox (or a phone call) from Hilmar wouldn't appeal to my vanity (he should still have my number/email address), but as it stands an Eve I can love only exists in my memories and I've already done my grieving. I'm just not ready to go through this abusive relationship again. I only wish I was joking about how I feel. /wrists

Banned for releasing an internal CCP document on the EvE forums. Said he was done forever prior to the ban so I doubt he'll come back.

iirc, as it currently stands he is no longer "banned," from forums. But, is in self-imposed exile over unaddressed grievances with CCP.

I miss Liang - it was like having a lawyer - all posts well thought out and logical and backed up by practical experience.

Too bad Liang didn't post a collection of incursion fits - I'd have loved to read that . And also would've been cool to have Liang's input on the current hybrid and caps re-balancing.

For as much as it matters, im sure there are a lot of us that miss seeing Liang pop up on the forums. There are very few posters that I always consider experts, no matter how they make me rethink my conclusions on things. Liang was one of them.

CCP Hellmar's Dev blog apology wrote:
We also didn’t do enough to assure you that this wasn’t the beginning of a “pay to win” scenario in EVE. Let me be blunt: Unless the MMO business changes radically, our virtual goods strategy for EVE Online will remain limited in scope

Translation: Pay(ing) to Win is and always was on the table.

Liang is (and a lot of other good people are) not comming back.

To be honest, we are better off without someone with an ego the size of the moon (see that FHC mail)

Overreaction or not from someone at CCP, I will not judge what happened but still, Liang you miss me Blink

The old days as I remember were filled with lots of fittings discussions that can get quite heated at times.
Maths thrown about with long posts that are worthwhile to read.

Nowadays, it's like kids playing :) Old wisdom lost to the archive (which not many bother digging).
Plenty of short non-descriptive posts, trolling posts and clueless posts.

He had legitimate concerns and was one of the more vocal people (instead of the many others who just left without giving a damn because they knew it would be pointless).

He also knows that as sweet and heartfelt the apology is, actions speak louder then words and CCP has a record of doing whatever it takes to dodge the immediate storm but then does little or nothing later (and eventually just reverts to its old ways once people accept the lower standards).

What is more, he posted an excellent post about quality over quantity - received a lot of community support (and ccp support) but then at the end of the day it clearly meant nothing (because the proof is in the pudding - and the pudding has been bad for awhile).

To add to this all - it seems that whenever you say something like this, you got the 'you are just a bitter vet' response. . . which is just the worst kind of crappy answer. There is a reason, and perhaps people just become bitter faster now.

Has apparently resubbed.

Good to know if you need to know how to fit a Raven.
