Rather a Dwight then a Michael around, at least Dwight is harmless.

Always willing to help all you have to do is ask, though if you're in the other fleet I may not help the way you want. Just a heads up. Pub Channel: Lost Souls Trading Post

...and this here is a prime example of the ass hats you get around here. Nitpicking an entire helpful post for one inconsequential thing.

The advice becomes irrelevant because a small part of it doesn't apply this once? I worded it so that it doesn't matter whether he is purchasing plex or not, but obviously you didn't read closely.

Get ******.

At least I have a reputation on these forums....but excuse me, who are you.

You post had NO relevance to the OP's post at all....You just went on the whole "Selling PLEX as a newb is bad, mkay" after you saw the word PLEX. If you are going to give advice, give advice related to the OP or just stick with GD.

And it's not bad to sell a PLEX for ISK, most people who yell that are just jealous about it.

Holy crap what a total douche nozzle.

I did read OP's post thoroughly, if you bothered to read my post thoroughly you'd see it comes from a very considerate point of view.

I considered the OP was on a 21-day trial, I also considered OP's distinct use of "plex" vs "subscription" so I decided to err with caution, and provide some good wisdom anyway.

Do you see anywhere that I say it is in no circumstances ok to sell a plex? No. That's because I didn't say that.

I considered that OP was a new player looking for a career in industry. Rather than providing industry-related advice, which I am admittedly short on, I decided to help the OP avoid or jump the hurdle that is one's first loss.

By joining a pvp corp and learning how to fly before embarking on a career of industry, the OP can hopefully avoid becoming a victim, if only in mindset.

But hey, you've got forum reputation! So I guess that means you didn't have to consider any of my post, just respond with "OMGWTFHENEVERSAIDPLEX". See how I descended to your level with my opening sentence? Good.

Yes. Because someone buys a PLEX to add game time must mean they will also buy them for quick ISK.
Yes. Lets force someone that wants industry into PvP. That is the worst possible and most ******** advice you can give.

If OP wants industry, go for it. Best idea that comes close, join a proper corp and they should be able to help you in multiple ways (protection, guidance, maximizing your industrial endauvours).

Joining a PvP corp whole you dont want to PvP but just because someone said you should do it is wrong. People will try to force their gameplay on you. Dont liste to these asshats. Its your game, play it like you want.

because it's not remotely possible he would ever do both, and that advice will never apply to him.

ok, to be honest I'm totally fine with more carebears who don't know game mechanics. But maybe OP would enjoy the game more if he doesn't become another statistic in a war-dec. PvP knowledge helps you in all areas of the game.

I'm sure these corps exist, and would be an excellent home to OP, provided he can learn the PvP mindset. Good luck finding one, however. Many, many industry corps are filled with insular, whiny carebears who even go so far as to wonder why people would want to shoot them.

If OP doesn't learn how to properly behave in PvP situations, people are going to be forcing their gameplay on him all over the place, in very undesirable circumstances. I just wanted to help with that inevitability.

CAN'T YOU SEE THIS CONSTANT FIGHTING IS TEARING EVERYONE APART?!?!?!

...oh wait, this is Eve, nobody gives a ****

Joking aside my best advice to OP is to learn to take everything is stride. Yeah there are asshats and duchebags here, but so are there in real life. You take the good with the bad. Learn from the bad and move on.

Such is life. Such is Eve.

I love how you say all this..

Then look at your corp history....NPC noob corpLol

And some PvP understanding...fine. But plenty of Industry corps who can provide that too.

And since when does Industry player equals clueless about game mechanics....That means that Chribba is a ****** according to your logic.

The best advice I can possibly give you (and this will affect your entire future perspective in eve) is to find a good pvp corp to learn the ropes from.

Criteria to look for would be....

-PvP-focused (ignore corps with the statements "missioning, pve, mining, and ESPECIALLY new-player friendly"
-Tech 1 ship/module replacement
-Activity in your time zone
-A minimum SP requirement.

The last part might not make sense, because you are new, and probably won't meet their SP requirement, but the "right" kind of corp will find out how intelligent, and willing to learn you are, before rejecting you out of hand. If they don't want a dedicated, loyal newbie who is willing to learn, you don't want them anyway.

I am sorry but i have to say something to this.
Telling a new player to ignore any corp that has something in their description that indicates that they are "carebears" is both very ignorant and unfair to be honest. There are a lot of corps out there that do these things, and still manage to defend them selfes and their space if needed, or just goes out and PVP's once in a while for fun.
Im sorry if you have not been lucky enough to find a corp like that yet, but is it possible that this is because you did not do enough research before hand and swallowed everything the recruiters told you raw without questioning?

Any recruiter can lie to you. It does not matter if they claim to be a pure PVP corp, or a full scale industry corp that feels that shooting rats is more then enough "combat" for them. Do your own research on the corp/alliance, and spend more then 5 minutes talking to the recruiter.

Ship replacement
Sure great advice, of course it also helps encourage the idea that a corp should "give me free stuff because i was an idiot and lost it in a stupid way! RAGE!" If SRP is a requirement to join a corp, well then maybe its time you find some way to actually make ISK for your self so you dont have to be so dependant.

Third one i actually agree with. This is important unless your fine with being alone large parts of the day.

Third one...
You say your self that even those that have it will often not really follow that rule, but im guessing this is just another way of saying "Dont dare to join any corp that is openly willing to accept new players, since they most likely wont be able to learn you how to fight and thus you will get your ass kicked" Lol

But for the OP.
When you are getting ready to look for a corp there is a guide here that you should read over. Make sure to cover both the OP and the replies since they cover a lot of things that was left out in the OP.

And yes, J'Poll might seem mean and sometimes borderline rude, but he knows what he is talking about and advice from him should be taken seriously even if the tone he uses is not the...friendliest one Smile

Then welcome, OP! Fun game, weird people.
Jaded? No, not me!...I haven't been playing long enough to earn that rank yet...I'm just Disgruntled working up to Jaded junior grade, then Jaded, on to Bitter, and eventually hope to achieve the rank of Bittervet. One must have goals. Folk do try to be helpful here in this subforum, but I don't know if I'd consider the General Discussion subforum as either mature or helpful. Big smile

This really. EVE is about gaining more power & wealth, preferably from someone else. The sooner the OP (and any newbie) realises this the more time they'll have to prepare themselves for First Contact with the "true" game. Also, J is correct on this one. The guy who gave out the (good) info about how having tons of plex money as a newbie can turn sour simply assumed the OP was doing exactly that, and when called on it started barking real loud.

My name is Braul Bellator. A nod to brawling in an MMA promotion called Bellator in the U.S. I am from Saint Petersburg, Florida and have always had an interest in EVE online, but just recently began my career as a pilot.

Currently, I am working on mining and manufacturing specialization, but eventually look to branch out into fleet, and someday corporation management.

I am truly excited, and in awe at this new experience, and have thus far been welcomed by the most mature, and helpful community in my 13 years of playing MMOs dating back to the launch of EverQuest.

I am taking advantage of the 21 day trial, and tomorrow will be purchasing PLEX!

I am looking forward to many long years of service to this community and our universe. You can find me skulking about in Rookie help answering as many questions as I can.

If you ever need some help or advice on things feel free to msg me in game. Welcome aboard!

Oh what a lovely thread, some poor guy says hello and it get's turned into a debate on how much his exit hole is gonna get widened by not being in a leetz pvp crop....bull...I know plenty of people who mostly enjoy indy stuff and work with the fighters to not get dead. Quite a mean bunch with the supplies when ya cockblock their rocks, too.

Eram only give advice on things you understand he didn't ask about joining pvp classes....bonehead.
