Eve's economy amazes me

It is so cool being able to sit outside a trade hub and watch dozens of enormous freighters hauling goods all over new eden to either be sold on distant markets ive never been to or used to build the very ships I fly. It is amazing to me to be able to literally watch eve's bustling economy in such a way. I often undock to go mine or do missions and find myself getting side tracked for 10 to 15 minutes at a time watching these huge freighters slowly heading off all over the universe. Does this amaze anyone else or am I the only person who finds this fascinating?

Fit a cargo scanner. You'd be surprised at what some of these freighters are carrying.

Enjoying the rain today? ;)

The next step is wanting to have those contents for yourself.

The step after that I'll leave as an exercise for the reader.

I imagine you must find real life very fascinating then. The same thing happens outside, even in nature.

Sure but semi trucks and trains arent as cool as giant space freighters bigger than the worlds largest sky scrapers Blink. What's cool about it in eve though is that you can actually see the games economy in action. Every other game ive seen or played had their all their trading done through trade brokers so you couldnt physically see trading going on like you can in eve.

Its one of the things that makes Eve such a great MMO. Other game developers should take note.

I think there is still a lot of room for improvement however. Like making the contract interface more ergonomic and providing more market data in terms of solar system and station data.

It also amazed me when I was new to this game. Then it became the standard and I just facepalm when I see other games' oversimplified economical, trading and crafting modell.

Btw even if highsec traffic feels normal after a while, it still gives me chills when an entire alliance or coalition is moving and carriers and jump freighters are jumping back and forth. Seeing those expensive ships hauling like madman gives the ominous feeling that lots of things are gonna get destroyed, alliances will rise or fade away and the status quo on the map will be broken once again.

Edit: Hey CCP! Use this as a trailer material sometime. Its cool stuff Cool

Agreed.

I love sending 50 freighter loads of minerals to a courier company. I just imagine the poor peasants hauling load after load after load in a slow freighter Twisted

Also, yes, freighters are just about the coolest thing ever to a new player, logistic fleets definitely should have a place in trailers!

They do, usually right in the middle of a fleet fight and it never made much sense. Go back and watch some of the many cinematic trailers. Titans, Super Carriers, a hundred Abaddon Battle Ships and a Providence freighter, wait what?

"I was there" (Incarna) trailer.

Trouble with the cinematic trailers is that you see people doing stuff that would never actually happen in EVE (e.g. undocking a freighter in the midst of an enemy battle-group). The trailer would've been better if they started it off as the freighter was greenlighted to leave, and then a few blops cyno'd in, followed by the rest of the "Gallente" side (i.e. the fleet the narrator was in), sorta like the Dominion trailer.

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

You're wrong, this type of situation happens out in 0.0 during forced evacs. I know, I've been part of it in the past.

Hostile fleets running interference while your other half of fleet covers the station and gates; alliance freighters loaded up and warping to POS for titan bridge evacs... so yeah, people do undock full freighters into hostile fleets on grid.

yeah but what is more amazing is what it takes to make those big haulers to run around the first place, where dose it all actually start?

Was there first the miners or the crafters?
At the beginning of EVE,

what dose it take to get all the blueprints to make 1 small thing and how much real money aca game time, did it take.
