It's really just a matter of cost-benefit.

In a world of unlimited resources, a capless Jita would be ideal. However, their time and resources can be better spent elsewhere, as Jita works just fine as is.

CCP proves daily that the single shard universe doesn't work.

It's a great idea in theory, but they cannot provide the hardware needed to handle the server load, and they cannot code efficiently enough to minimize the issues involved with an excessive number of players in some systems.

I was in a fleet fight the other day 750 in system, slideshow 75% tidi most of the fight.
The most amusing thing is that the Tidi followed us all the way back home, 10 jumps, 30 mins, 75% tidi all the way.
Is it my imagination, or is the hardware/code getting worse? Oops

Eve is fine, what do you expect if you try bumrushing a single system. It's players that are the problem here, not the hardware.

Single shard works just fine and has been continually been improved over the years. The fact it's not without it's problems doesn't mean it's broken. It just means the benefits it provides come with a cost.

The tradeoff was worth it for me personally when the primary trade hub was totally unplayable during weekends and a decent size fleet fight crashed the node/server. At the current playability level I can't even imagine playing sharded MMOs anymore.

In an ideal situation every system would be on the servers that they move systems to before large fleet fights, or on servers that jita has for example, but it's just a matter of resources, Servers have limitations and no matter what you do there's always going to be a point where it struggles, we just need to bare with it and hope that the code, tidi and hardware improves with time.

It always brings joy to my heart to see industrial ships reproduce on gates.

Oh really? Seems to be working just fine, especially with nifty tweaks like tidi in place and with dynamic load balancing in the works to take away the breakages that happened before when it really didn't work as well.

how about you go to any of the other market hubs?

say you are selling trit, jita will usually give you .20isk p/u over dodi... the question is does .20 isk p/u cover your travel cost in time, self insurance and opportunity cost?

honestly, it didn't before... now trow in pop cap and there's no reason at all why your autopilot should be aiming to jita.

pop cap shouldn't be lifted, people like you should start chasing fake profits.

You don't even have to do that. Waiting time on most gates is minimal, faster than logging into Jita. Just don't use the Perimeter gate. But people do, what they are told by the autopilot.

Since markets are regional I honestly don't get why people don't just unload next door in Perimeter or New Caldari or Sobaseki etc. - there's 7 to choose from 1 jump away - folks can purchase just as easily there.
