If we are going to talk about ship explosions then...........

When a titan blows up can it have the effect of the old aoe doomsday. Like the avatar has that bright blinding white light.

Why Can't I have a picture signature.

Also please support graphical immersion, bring back the art that brought people to EvE online originaly.

Arguable, everyone on grid can see a ship dying, but you'd only really see impact animations if you were looking closely at the target P

This idea is probably to resource heavy, but:

It would be cool to have a few different types of death animations that occur randomly. Of course explosions, but also maybe something that doesn't explode, like having the ship crack open into two pieces, having debris (and bodies) strewing out of the ship, or having just a burning fireball of a wreck. My personal favorite would be to have massive holes punched through the ship, simulating a massive barrage of artillery onto target, then consume the destroyed wreck with fire and degassing animations.

Again, probably to taxing to peoples older machines, and maybe even to taxing to the server to randomly roll up an animation; but would be cool for the future.

I would love this but I'm sure the graphical lag in a big fight would screw with getting pods out safely.

wtb lance of weapons fire punching through the ship followed by the lights and engines flickering and fading as though the ship is giving up it's soul.

Also, wtb wrecks that keep their velocity and vector from the moment they are destroyed until they hit the edge of the grid and despawn. Though it seems like a troll, the whole "wrecks stay for 2 hours and then magically disappear" thing is kinda lame if you think about it. This would be more realistic physics, drive up the value of salvage, make marauders more valuable on the field, and reduce wreck lag from all the proposed sexy wrecks in this thread.

having moving wrecks would also make the noctis with it's tractor beam bonuses all the more useful!

I do see what you're saying, however I was more concerned with seeing the effects on the ship I am flying.

ya honestly i'd be happy at this point if wrecks dint just look like a bunch of criss crossed lines in a circle...

I mean come on give us a carcus or alteast something that looks like pieces of burnt hull ...

Atleast on battleships, carriers, and supers, the effects should be decent, and with recognizeable hulls or atleast size-recognizeable wreckage, something is better than the current nothing

BTW, GFX have 0 to do with LAG, LAG is INTERNET related...

Also if your pc sucks turn off the "wrecks" in the option as they will probably add for its effect

though we can't even get the local rendering of turrets missing our ships!!!!!

I mean **** the client knows it missed it just said "large beam laser MISSES YOUR SHIP" so why the hell is it rendering that it did hit my ship!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Atleast fix the local my hull rendering of incoming damage!

Jesus Christ I'd hate to be a project/program manager at ccp right now... trying to squeeze everything everyone ever wanted in eve into a decent schedule must be hell.

the gannt charts you guys have must be epic...

that is of course... if you have gannt charts...

actually... CCP consider this a request for GANNT charts... and remember... EVERYONE LOVES GRAPHS!

I WANT GRAPHS!!! OF ANY KIND!!!! (and not the learning cliff one)

I am passing this thread on to our art department as feedback from you guys. I have no idea how much programming and art work this would involve or if the artists and programmers would be free to do this in the short term.

I cannot promise you any answers but I will certainly pass it on Smile

This is awesome. Will they do it? -at least we know they will look at it.

Revamping explosions is on our backlog, but will not be part of the Winter Expansion. It's quite a task, since we want them to look awesome yet not kill performance. Explosions and missiles are the main things remaining from the pre-Trinity days. Yes it's taken a lot of time to get there, but with our new found focus, we will get there faster than previously planned.
