NEXT EVENTS:

Sunday May 19th - RACE

Introducing the Standard Unlimited - Standard frigates, unlimited equipment!

Anyone has an opportunity to win, and registration is FREE FREE FREE!

Ship Restrictions: Standard frigates. (No faction, T2 etc.)

This restriction exists for several reasons.
To level the playing field between newer and older pilots, as well as preventing someone from showing up and making a complete fool of themselves when they realise their 8 000m/s interceptor is too fast to navigate the race track.

Module Restrictions: Anything goes.

Why? Because the difference between T1, T2, and faction equipment on a T1 racing frigate is not huge, and we don't want the overhead of having to scan every contestant to enforce compliance.

Prizes:

First place: 125 million ISK and Imperial Navy Slicer courtesy of My Cat Is Mia
Second place: 50 million ISK
Third place: 10 million ISK

To sign up for the race simply send an eve-mail to Julius Rigel with your character name and your team name.

You don't have to be on a "real" team to compete. Your team name can be anything you want it to be, within reason. But if you are part of a racing team, your captain will probably want you to sign up under your proper team name.

If you are looking for a team to join, or you have any other questions, ask around in channel FRIGATE RACE.

Interested in sponsoring the event? We take any and all donations of time - We need race marshals, commentators, racers, advertisers, and much more! Any spare man-hours you have in your day, especially on race day, we can use it!

Exactly.

The video linked in the original post explains how the racing works. [Link]

Also, there are videos of actual races recorded some years ago from our stream. The footage is a little more raw and janky, but it shows proper racing with proper contestants, including some beginners who didn't have a clue what they were doing Lol.
Also, it's an older format of race track. We use gates now instead of these big hulking bend things. [Link]

Oh, I missed sub-warp racing so much ! Cool

Was eating an ear off of everyone I talked to about the thrill of racing when I was at the egonics soundscape conference last week.

I thank you for the very generous offer, but as we came to agree in our private chat, we need manpower more than we need ISK. If you had pilots you could send us, that would be much more helpful.

Thanks again.

Roland Gunn on behalf of My Cat Is Mia has insisted on donating 25 million ISK and an Imperial Navy Slicer to be added to the first place prize pot!

Thank you, My Cat Is Mia! Big smile

Great fun was had. And we saw an, for me at least, unexpected winner. Congratulations Eko'mo !

My analysis : the track's made for accuracy, not speed. Lol

This was a blast, so good! Definitely a regular thing for me now. Strongly encourage people to try it. Chuck some mission loot mods on a T1 frig and get out there.

Big thanks to Julius for setting this up and the track marshals.

If you are at all interested in a little New Eden sportsmanship with a strong element of pilot skill(not the kind you can count or get implants for) I suggest you get out to the track and try your hand at it.

Much fun was had, hilarious fun at times: the false start at "Oi", me looping the finish 2 times and still finishing first.
Lessons were learned, and I look forward to the next race. I'm glad to see there were indeed worthy opponents on the track. I am now more motivated to regain my skills.

I thank the organizer, sponsors, marshalls, racers and spectators.

Congratulations, Eko'mo.
