Point: It takes 28 days to get T2 guns, which you need for PvP!
My Counter: actually, it takes ~6 days.
Your counter: Noobs need better opportunities for PvP!

And how does it take 6 days?

Because you only need Small Hybrid/Energy/Projectile Turrets to level 5 to gain access to Tech 2 Small Hybrid/Energy/Projectile Turrets. And that takes about 6 to 7 days.
Now if you add on the support skills then you're talking about an extra week or so to get them all up to level 4.

how many times do you have to repost a bad idea before people give up and not bother pointing out the idea is old, terrible and the op should feel bad for suggesting it?

surely we're close.

Since I've never been on EVE forums I don't know if this was infact a repost

The idea itself is as old as EVE. Running a search on Google or the EVE Forums search bar (in the upper right corner) would have yielded some results to skim over.

The main issue that pops up each time idea is posted is that many people who come from other MMOs assume that the skill system and power-gap is similar to that in other games (i.e. if you don't have max skills or "the best" equipment then you are "useless").
If you study (or ask about) the skill system and how the ship/module class/Tech system functions you'll find that it...
- gives older players the perks they desire
- keeps newbies effective in some ways
- rewards planning and teamwork more so than "powergrinding" and "I have the best/most stuff!"

I have been playing since September 2012 and I came from a game where players could level up quickly and get to the end-game content within a month and a half without much effort. Frankly, it sucked. Players would grind to get the good stuff and, when they did and found there was nothing left for which to strive, they became very dissatisfied with the game.

I like the fact that training for the good stuff takes time. It keeps me interested in what comes next. Right now I am 5 days into training a 19 day level 5 skill. Does it suck that I have to wait two more weeks to get the ship that training earns me? Yeah, it does, but I'll still be here playing and planning for my next big move.

I don't want all my toys at once. Give me something to work towards. The ship I am training to fly costs over 100 Million ISK - in those two weeks I'll have it paid for. No big deal. The next set of skills will be over 20 days a piece. Will I wish it was quicker? Sure, who wouldn't? But, in the end, I think the time that it takes to train these skills is just about right. I am pretty happy with it.

Plus, the OPs complaint is about T2 guns - that's the beauty of Eve, you can get a meta 4 gun that has similar stats but the only limitation is that it can't fire the extremely expensive T2 ammunition. I have survived just fine using only the meta 4 weaponry. If you have the ISK, you can find Faction or Deadspace gear on the market that is expensive but has the same or better stats than T2 gear.

Wait until you set your sights on a Black Ops ship. I don't remember for sure, but I think training Battleship from level 4 to 5 is nearly a month and a half. Then you have to train all the extra skills, too. Do I want a Black Ops ship NOW? Yes I do, but there are also some pretty interesting ships to learn that are smaller and take less time. Eve has a wide selection and it keeps getting wider. My current favorites are the Covert Ops Frigates and the Strategic Cruisers. I'm working on a Blockade Runner then probably a Recon Cruiser. The Black Ops Battleship is a ways down the road - probably further as I am sure CCP will introduce new stuff before I get to training for one.

Slow down, enjoy the game.

If you want a great game with some depth to it, stick to it but if you want to go from zero to uber in a couple weeks and get burned out a couple weeks after that, Battlestar Galactica Online is thataway -------------------------------------------->

Black ops:

BS 5 - month+
Jump Drive skills - month+
Bridging skills - ~month (Astrometrics 5 + Science 5 baseline)
Associated fit skills (T2 torpedoes/projectiles/lasers/blasters, ECM, fitting etc.) - way over a month.
Black Ops battleship - 1 billion ISK

The moment you portal a gang of stealth bombers straight on top of someone, or jump into the fray from out of nowhere and kill an unsuspecting target? Priceless.

I still remember the satisfaction that came with training up new toys. A month (+ training time for a recon, another month and some) to fly a Cyno 5 recon was a haul but shouting "Cyno up!" on comms for the first time and watching the bridged bomber team cut through the targets in seconds was well worth it.

Hell, training covert ops (...2 weeks? 3? 1 week for Frig 5 anyway.) was long back when I was a newbie, but breaking through a bubblecamp in a Cheetah for the first time made it worth it. Take your time. Find your way.

Geez - I'm humbled.

I am finding that in Eve, bigger isn't always better. I have regular Battleships for running level 4 missions. I use my Buzzard to scan down exploration sites and my Proteus to clear them. In a couple weeks, I'll have a Viator to retrieve the loot from null sec. I am pretty happy with where I am and where I am going.

The Black Ops is still a goal, but mostly because I play solo for various reasons. There are some exploration sites I can't clear with the Proteus and a Covert Ops cloak is a needed crutch for me. Who knows, by the time I can command a Black Ops ship, I won't need one. That's the beauty of this game. There are tons of directions you can go and make work for you and your style of play.

I'll be a bastard and just outright state - black ops isn't really a solo boat. I won't say it's just a bridging machine because a gang of them dropped on a target can be downright scary - but it does shine in a gang with good hunters. (Plus you get to be treated as an angel of salvation by someone who has a delicious carebear kill only a cyno away)

Though it is a prime example of rewarding specialization - CCP should focus on that during T2 Tiericide, reward people that skill into a particular branch of combat and get to T2 ships of it.
