Question regarding a nullsec ninja ratting Tengu

Im currently training for a Tengu for use as a nullsec ratter and i am aware that using the covert cloak subsystem seriously depletes the DPS the ship can do.

Would a viable alternative be to use the MWD cloak trick allowing me to use the Accelerated Injection bay to get past nullsec gate camps when used in conjuction with the interdiction nullifier or does this give me less chance to get through a gate camp than a covert cloak.

Im looking to go deep into non NPC nullsec where i cannot refit the subsystems so i have to stay with the same fit the entire time im out. Secondly how many missiles can the cargo hold carry and roughly how long will they last for as i will have to return to highsec if i want more (highs include cloak and prober)

Im trying anything to get away from level 4 missions in highsec with a gank fit max skilled nightmare. its making life and isk generation to easy and somewhat boring.

Your very valuable thoughts would be appreciated.

Short answer: don't ninja rat in anything but a drone boat.

Long(er) answers:

* Yes, the cloak/mwd trick will get you through gatecamps most of the time. You're still going to end up caught every once in a while. Nullifier/Covert Cloak is the way to go and even that gets caught sometimes.
* No, the cargohold doesn't hold remotely enough missiles to make it worthwhile. You're going to be out of missiles in 2-3 hours tops.

The best way to go about it is to join a corp that's blue to a nulsec alliance and just go from there.

A stealth bomber would be a better cloaky ratter at fraction of cost

I'm doing it with my other toon right now and it works lovely.

If you wan't to do it, then find the 0.0 space with the NPC stations, it will make a world of difference. With clever bookmarks and so on, you might become almost a local.

Same here. I use a purifier to rat in nul where I face sansha or blood raiders. The ship carries ample ammo and if I do get caught and kill, I'm out only 30 mil or so isk.

Still, if u prefer a tengu, why not go with a probe fit and try wormholes sites?

A max skilled tengu vomits up missiles at an alarming rate. You will find you will run out of missiles very fast. Proteus drone boat or Legion are the way to go for nullsec ninja ratting if you arent planning on having access to refit/reloads

I´d say you could have a blast with lowsec exploration. Find a few dead-ish systems, scan with a covert ops.

Get your Tengu in with just a common cloak and the subsystems for tank and gank. You could even set up a base of operations in a lowsec station. Make sure you make the safespots, the boookmarks of the gates and the warp from station bookmarks and all that.

It is still abit dangerous.

for ninja activities, drone and laser boats are ideal, as you can keep going forever. also, you want something thats kinda cheap, because you WILL get caught sooner or later. i dont like the idea of losing a 600mill ship. use a tengu if you're in an alliance and the space is more or less yours.

for ninja plexing/ratting, no other comes close to what the Isthar can do. and it costs 150mill to buy and fit fully. the mwd-cloak trick works perfectly with the prototype cloak because it's an agile ship. improved cloak is unnecessary. but if you jump into a good bubble camp, youre dead anyway. you just gotta know your pipe through trial and error.

Unless you're into the gate jumping as part of the fun, you can use Black Frog to ship your stuff to any NPC nosec system in EVE. You can use Jump Frog to move yourself (jump clone/med clone) out there too.

With a nice pile of supplies, you can stay out there indefinitely and fly mulitple ship types for different purposes. Most importantly, extra ships in case you get popped. Nothing worse than being stuck in Stain with no ships.
