Has anyone ever used characters for collateral?

I have been tossing around the idea of getting a loan to help fund my alliance and then paying it back via plexes, but sadly where as I have alot of assets even enough to cover any kind of loan that I would get.. I "need" these assets... but I have litterally a metric **** ton of characters that have 40m+ SP and I am really getting to the point where I only need a couple.....

Is anyone interested in this kind of collateral?

If you are, then send me a mail and maybe we can talk, If I end up getting enough postive responses then I will look at doing a correct loan thread... right now I AM NOT ASKING FOR ANY ISK, I am only judging MD feedback on this idea.

That would require a character transfer to an account of the collateral holder (3rd Party/Lender, whichever) at the beginning of the bond, and then a transfer back at the end of the bond.

It's doable, but there's that ~2b ISK per character overhead that makes it not super feasible.

I figured such was the case, but would you mind "Explaining why" it would be a bad idea? Is it the fact they are kind of up and down as far as market price goes and it is easy to take a hit on them?

I mean "no bad idea" is kind vague.... surely you have more of a reason then that?

Agreed, but I would be looking at a larger loan 20-35b so I mean, it might be worth it in that kind of case yeah know?

2b isk will reduce youre profits by 2b isk . Kinda harsh even for a big profit :|

Opportunities multiply as they are seized.

Agreed,

Im just debating on it because I wouldnt be getting a loan to make profit, in all honesty I would just be getting a loan to leverage the ability to get the isk blown up, or to get proper supplies to progress my alliance. The payback would come from the leverage of RL paychecks to purchase plexes.

I think though that I might just sell the character/s and call it good.
