This is not an ISK sink ( except possibly if confiscated PLEX are used during a shortage PLEX crises that Dr E talked about last year)

Whoever came up with that idea should be getting a huge bonus this year. That is one of the most brilliant business moves I've ever seen from CCP. Character transfers just felt like a waste of money but this actually feels like you're paying for something tangible.

I can see some benefits for people wanting to make the best of a situation on a particular account. Particularly old accounts with a high SP main. Overall though, this seems more beneficial for CCP than players.

I think this is a benefit for people who are not familiar with long term account planning. I always planned out extra accounts so that they became self-sustaining. That is, setup whatever it is you need first (as a Black Frog pilot, that was often cynos), then setup a character who can make isk while not logged in (PI, research/builder, trader), then setup a character to train for sale. For me, those characters for sale were often freighter pilots, who I also put to work in RF/BF doing AFK hauling. That enabled me to generate a steady stream of ISK, get a big cash payout when the sale was complete, pluls have my task character I needed in the first place. If you spin up 7 or 8 of those accounts and combine their efforts into production/trade, you can big ISK and the monthly PLEX is a small expense in comparison.

Keep in mind, that a PLEX is for 30 days, so if the training you're planning takes less than 30 days, you need to have a plan for the excess. I don't know how all the new changes will work out with training times, but I used to be able to get a freighter pilot into his first freighter in an average of 20 days or so. So for 1 PLEX plus 21 day trial (buddy account), I got 51 days, which got me a cyno pilot, a freighter pilot with 30 days of contract work, and a head start on a third sale character. (In the old buddy account system, I also got the PLEX back. Those were the days, sigh) I guess we'll see how it works out in practice.

Amen. it is utterly frustrating to have to put off a goal with a main toon becuase you need another cyno toon lol.

Just recently I decided to take a trip to the dark side and train up a mining toon (I feel dirty just typing the word "mining"!, but the venture looks sweet lol), so i have had to put back training up another low sec pvp/pve toon to do it. I already have 5 accounts and don't want to add another.

With this option, CCP makes a little extra scratch as I buy a GTC to turn into plex and I get to accomplish ingame goals more reasonably. win win.

am I the only person that thinks this is utterly pointless?

So you pay the same price to train an alt on the same account as your main. meaning you can only use it as when your main is NOT logged on, as you would to just have another account that lets you use both accounts at the same time.

I get that it means your alts can train little bits at a time, but it's MUCH cheaper to have a second account and then transfer that toon to your main account and pay for that with RL money. Honestly.. what useful thing can you gain in a month? two months, or even three? Even a covert scout doesn't happen inside 3 months...

Nice work CCP, now we see why you love Jita scammers.
