whats good about this??

its gonna cost the same as running another acc, that you can actually play on, have 2 cynos alts or 2 noob spys or whatever.

Say I want a Cyno alt/indy alt, or other fixed-SP-limit character on my main account. This would let me train it up without stopping training my main and avoid the transfer fee.

i guess that's a limited use of it yes,

The main advantage over an alt account is that regardless of whether or not you train the 2nd character you have him available. On an alt account, if you stop plexing/paying, that toon is unavailable.

This is mainly useful for alts with a finite skill plan that isn't worth paying the character trading fee, such as light industrial or mining chars.

I do wonder if they should get a little extra training time per plex to offset the lack of functionality from not having two accounts for the same price. 35 days per plex should do it.

Another account that you need to plex forever.

"Hurr character transfer"

Now you can't train it.

now we get the option to pay for 2 and only able to play whit one.

also. CCP, i thought you learned by having 2 options right next to each other. add game time and this right under each other is bound to fill up your pettion system!

This, there is really not much of a benefit to this feature at all unless thye give you the option to run two clients from the same account. The thing is that might actually happen as they have talked about making it easier to swap chars ect.

The only other benefit i guess is not having to paythe activation fee for a second account and being able to raise toons to sell in the bazarr a bit easier.

Alt accounts are permanent, unless you pay the $20 or two plex to transfer a character trained to another account. this gives the opportunity to train alt cynos or trade or indy alts without having to keep a permanent account and once you are done training you stop adding PLEX and in the end it is cheap since you don't have to pay for transfer costs.

A second account is (in the long run) more expensive. Let's assume it takes 12 months to train and you plan on playing another 2 years:

1 Account = 36 PLEX for account + 12 PLEX for alttraining = 48 PLEX needed
2 Accounts = 72 PLEX needed

Or if you transfer the char off:

36 PLEX for main account + 12 PLEX for alt account + 2 PLEX for transfer = 50 PLEX needed

Do you really need to offset a new feature like this? Does everything have to have a bonus? If you don't want to use dual account training, PLEX another account instead.

Someone else on Sisi brought this to my attention and I was skeptical at first, but it appears to be true - come Odyssey you will be able to use a PLEX to activate simultaneous training on two characters on the same account for 30 days. It makes perfect sense and I think it's something that a lot of people have been asking for for years.

makes a lot of sense tbh.

If by "limited use" you mean "the primary reason people have been asking for this," yes.

Cyno alts that can use more than just a burst, PI alts, Industrial alts, ~mining alts~, ganking alts, ratting alts, capital alts.

It's perfect for Research Alts since the training for very decent skills is a little less than 1 month, but that's 1 month you wouldn't be training your "main".

I have an account where the main as a PvP toon and the other two are set-up for PI. The ability to train the main, while also training one of the PI toons would be helpful.

That the barrier to entry for training a special-purpose alt is significantly lowered, meaning that people will do it on impulse more often. Sure, CCP loses out on character the transfer fees that they'd get when people try to consolidate a newly-trained alt back into the main account, but I have a distinct feeling that this will be more than compensated for by the higher price on buying PLEX than using regular subscriptions to run that alt-building account (especially when using buddy or power-of-two accounts) and by the increased frequency of use.

What's good about it? $$$ for CCP.

But isn't that the trade off with Alts: To train an alt on the same account you have to stop training on your Main. Makes you think whether you really want that Alt doing something specific or want to split roles between Main and Alt.

I can see the advantage but it just means you don't have to really think about what you're doing with your training plans you just use PLEX and train whatever.

Undecided on this which is a first for me on the Forum.

That does seem to be true, but what took CCP so long to see it?
