Battleclinic is tied to your API. It always tells the truth, even when you edit yourself into a corpy's killmail for a third-party killboard.

You seem to be confused about how killboards and the API work, in general. They don't magically get API access by virtue of the fact that they exist.

It's funny you say that, because that's exactly how Battleclinic has been working for me, for years now.

Yeah, you have your head pretty far up your ass (per usual). If Alice has not handed over an API key to BC, and Bob has, and Alice kills Bob, the kill will populate on BC. If Frank has also not handed over an API key to BC, and Bob kills Frank, it's not going to show up on BC, because it's not magic - BC is not possessed of some all-seeing eye that instantly knows about every combat transaction in the Eve universe.

The end result is that even without giving an API key to a given killboard, you CAN have quite a few of your kill/loss mails on there, by virtue of the fact that your victims have given them an API, or even just by being on a killmail where the person who scored the KB had set up an API.

That aside, we can quite plainly see that the OP, true to his claim, has API verified kills and losses on other killboards that are not shown on BC. One would think, at a minimum, that you might have at least paused a moment to check that before running your mouth like an imbecile.

Oh, wait. Scratch that last bit. I just remembered that you're the guy who "tested" Erotica 1 for, uhm... science! And the children! And blogging!

Yeah.... insult me some more, because internet spaceships are serious business. Go re-evaluate your life. Smoke a bowl, and learn to be a more happy person.

Also, you're mostly wrong about how Battleclinic works, for the record.

Actually, I'm not. Again, if you weren't busy being professionally stupid, you may have noticed some small details, like how many of your solo kills (the ones where someone else's API wasn't there to pick up the slack) are, in fact, NOT API verified (and, thus, quite capable of lying).

e.g.: http://eve.battleclinic.com/killboard/killmail.php?id=11209926 - Not API verified! Source: Manual post
http://eve.battleclinic.com/killboard/killmail.php?id=11212395 - Not API verified! Source: Manual post
http://eve.battleclinic.com/killboard/killmail.php?id=11247979 - Not API verified! Source: Manual post

This is because you haven't actually submitted an API to BC, and, as I said before, killboards are not magic.

Problem 1 (emphasis mine):

It's not about you and what you want. What you want only applies insofar as you are prepared to defend and/or fight for it, or bar that, run/hide from those you can't fight. This is as it should be in a sandbox. This is the only way it can be, and still be a sandbox.

Problem 2 (ditto):

Asmodai Xodai wrote:
Not only do I not see how I was 'outsmarted' or 'outplayed,' but according to my own personal reckoning, it was quite the opposite - they were outsmarted and outplayed. According to my personal reckoning, I tied up an enemy causing him to waste a lot of time, energy, and money on something that I consider to be useless and unproductive. Meanwhile, I was essentially unaffected. I, and my corp/alliance/coalition, came out ahead.

See above, plus your reckoning is wrong:

It's not about you --or any one of us, that's why it falls to you --and to all of us, when this happens to us, which it always does sooner or later-- to learn from this, and protect yourself better. Your attitude tells me quite clearly that you'll refuse to do so.

So, I expect an "I QUIT!!!11oneone" post from you in due course, so in advance: Ur Stuffs(TM), I can haz?

Perhaps EVE is not the game for you? That's fine. It shouldn't be for everyone, that's what makes it great. But you've got completely the wrong attitude for this game, mate, that much is clear.

E:

Oh my word, eight pages already? Not sure if OP = troll, but if so: Nicely done, 8/10.

I think you misunderstood. The reason I used phrases like 'according to my own personal rationale' is because I was allowing that other people have their own personal rationales, possibly separate and distinct from my own. And yes, as far as I'm concerned, it IS about me and what I want, just as much as any other player views the game as being about them and what they want.

Quote:

This isn't rocket science, so there isn't much to learn. If you are worried about losing your ship, don't try to stay in the pocket an extra 10 seconds when hostiles appear in chat. If you aren't worried about it, by all means stay if you want.

I didn't come here asking for advice, because as I just stated, there is no rocket science here. I came to ask if there was some materially rational basis for why certain people pursue 'X'.

-OP gets killed, comes to the forums to make the usual whine thread.

-Makes a massive write up about how little he cares about getting killed.

-Tries to disguise his whine thread with a question "why do people kill people" Gets answers he doesnt like.

-OP Gets upset and argues with everyones logic, calls everyone trolls and resorts to acting like a child.

Its actually a pretty good read. OP is bat ****. You shoud check it out. He doesnt care. He didnt want that drake anyways.

After the patch we're giving the market some gentle supply restriction, like tying one wrist to the bedpost loosely with soft silk rope. Just enough to make things a bit more exciting for the market, not enough to make a safeword necessary.  -Fozzie

Asmodai Xodai, as an official GENTS diplomat, I wish you had come to me with your concerns before you posted on these forums, so I could tell you to get out on the first page.

To answer your question, shooting people is the reason we play this terrible game. If you don't like it, GENTS might not be for you. If you have any further questions, please contact me on jabber, because there's no way in hell I'm going to read eight pages of badposting.

And now I haz both a sad and a Schadenfreude-informed cynical grin.

I recommend you do indeed read it. It will help you in your further decision making on the future partnership of your fine establishment and Asmodai Xodai. Also there is a lot of  material in here.

Rather than locked I believe this thread should be stickied so that future generations of capsuleers can come and be awed at the amount of butthurt emanating from the capsuleer known as Asmodai Xodai.

Nah, I understand your sentiment, but really it wasn't a loss - you needn't feel sorry.

Don't bother trying to shake the accusations people are making of you being probably angry over the event.

You approached this topic in the same format as a tearful player whining about how they were griefed and while you decline this is the case for you, you still treated it this way.

If you truly did not care that you lost your ship, then do not bring it up. Rather, you should have posted something like asking fellow players here for their opinions by saying something along the lines of, "Do you need to have something to gain to justify killing them?"

At that point, players would be focusing on a discussion over whether they pirate/gank only for profit, or for the raw fun of killing another player, rather than focusing on the fact that you lost the ship. Because you brought your lost ship up, it eclipses the entire rest of the thread.

Edit: For future reference, any time you start a sentence that has the format of "I'm not trying to X, but Y," the only part of the sentence that anyone will read is Y.

Examples:
"I'm not trying to offend you, but..."
"I'm not racist, but..."
"I'm not disappointed in you, but..."

The only thing we get out of the phrase at the beginning of the sentence is that we understand that you have cognitive dissonance over it. So when you say, "I'm not mad, but....", all we get out of it is that you are mad, but you don't want to admit it.

Or you could go the other way and think that people have to say "I'm not..." because people always seem to jump on some sort of crusadic bandwagon when other people demean their pride and joy.

It's sort of a shield saying "I have a point of view but don;t go apolectic about what I'm going to say just yet" Sort of a passive "You're not going to like what i have to say" kinda of thing.

Really people shouldn't start coversation with that line because it already puts you on the backfoot when in reality you really shouldn't be bothered if you offend someone. Being offended is like trying to justify a whine.
