I'm relatively new to this game and lately I've been noticing, I and other people ask questions about how such and such a ship can be fitted for such and such a task, and it worries me how many people come back with the words;

"Get a Drake"

I'm just wondering is there actual reason behind this, am I really wasting my time running WH's and other content in a Cane or a Cyclone, should I stump up and train missiles now, even in the later ships, command ships for example, the answer to questions will often be "Get a nighthawk", it just seems like this is very narrow and boring, and to be frank, I freaking hate drakes.

The reason is that the drake is a fairly decent all-round passive tank/dps for very little skill. At high skill it just gets better. It's certainly not the best ship in the game but it takes many months of training and hundreds of millions of isk to fly a ship that will be better than it. So in the meantime, "get a drake".

So is my Cane really not any better than a Drake at anything, apart from obviously looking awesome :P

Drakes are potentially the most friendly PVE battlecruisers to fly, especially for WHs where sleepers can tear through tanks.
Extremely high resists ensure logis are more efficient, too.

Besides, the Drake is a ship everyone should be able to fly Blink

I've been wondering the same for long, so I got a Drake and gave it a try.
It seems to have a very good tank, but low damage dealing.

I'm sure it has it's uses but for me as a mission runner it's too slow and not my choice.
As for fittings, try browse them at BattleClinic.


Disclaimer: I'm not a fittings expert, and may have missed some uber trick to fit it to be awesomest.

It would make sense if the Drake was *Just* good at missioning, but it seems to be kind of better at pretty much anything, and I can fly a Ferox, I use it to harvest gas clouds :L

Im playing this game since 2007, and let me tell you, i got rich killing stuff without ever skilling a drake. Dont listen to other people, its YOUR game.

And apart of that, yes the hurricane does more damage for example. Its also faster and more agile. And did i mention that its also more versatile to fit?

Thats one of the things I like bout the Cane, it'll run from the classic Eve Uni Nano Shield fit, to heavy armour tanking brick. Its versatile and brilliant, and I'm glad some people are saying you dont need to fly that half wingless bird, half brick to be succesful in this game.

Tier 2 BCs outmatches the tier ones sadly. Unlike the battleship class, the tier 1 BCs does not offer unique capabilities, so they tend to be little used. Of the Tier 2s, Id say that for solo/small gang PVP, the Cane and the Myrm is way better than the Drake. The Harbinger is also decent. Drakes are used in PVP, but mostly in big fleets.

Drake is a very capable ship.
Its a great ship for a starter for ALL forms of pve and pvp.

If you are a noob or started, get efficient at driving it!
There are so many people that trained a different race or did not have the skills to do all the different variations of pve or pvp.
I did it the wrong way and i ended cross training for drake. I bet a lot of people have been that same road.

A nighthawk is over the top. Expensive and you may concider getting a tengu instead since you get a much better tanking and flexibility out of it. But these ships attract all sorts of pvp or gankers like flies on ****!

Think of the drake as a very good way to get ahead of those that dont know this fact.
A nighthawk or tengu is somethign you should train down the line.
The good thing about the drake is thats super cheap, awesome tank and super flexible compared to the rest.

Wormhole, Missions, complexes, high sec pvp, low sec pvp, 0.0 pvp, pos bashing, ratting in 0.0 or low sec.
Very flexible. AND most important, the modules that it uses are most likelly to be available even in 0.0 space than the modules of other ships.

Drake is better all-round but 'cane works as well. You can kill the sleepers quicker but may well need to warp out and heal up.

Really depends how you are playing it, a couple of 'canes working together will **** sleepers much quicker when working together but solo the drake is probably better.

-The sword is only as sharp as the one who wields it! Other names: Drenzul (WoT, WoW, Lineage 2, WarH, BloodBowl, BSG, SC2 and lots more)

the Drake and Tengu are the most bothersome ships in the world. theyre everywhere and theyre both good at too many things. they both need a giant nerf.

the only other ship that parallels the Tengu in PVE versatility is the Ishtar. thats youre other option...definitely better than the Drake, but you need to max out your drone skills which takes at least 3-4 months.

Meh, my eventual plan is to train for a Sleipnir/Claymore, and no there not the best PVE ships, but I dont care, because they are awesome Bear
