Sentries if you warp the carrier into the anom, fighters if you're assisting another ship.
Fighters do pretty terrible applied DPS but they'll let you keep aligned. Sentries apply their damage instantly and the applied DPS is pretty good, but you have to remain stationary. That's not that big of a problem in a carrier though, if you have backup cynos/cynogens you can jump to in case someone unfriendly shows up.

The real risk is getting tackled by something and then a baddie picks that moment to show up in system. Maybe not that likely depending, but it's still a risk. You really need to have and watch intel channels as well as local.

4 drone control units, 3 drone damage augs, some drone tracking mods, 1 smartbomb. You don't need to be cap stable with tank because you'll only pulse it on occasion anyway. Use sentries.

IMO fitting a cyno and LO is way more important than a smartbomb.

Yeah, to that point, I had been meaning to ask; where will you be running these anoms? How many warp core stabs, if any, do you plan on fitting? How many friends will you have nearby? Does your carrier have sharp talons?

and carrying on with that theme ...

if you let any of us Brave Newbies know where you are intending to rat ... we will be happy to met you there and "help" your carrier ...

just saying ...

I'd recommend against fitting any warp core stabs. They won't help you in the event that you get bubbled, and it'll take much longer for you to lock targets which could hurt your ability to make isk, and I'm not even sure that a warp core stab allows a jump drive to be activated under point (it should but I haven't tested it). And in the event that you do get tackled by something that has enough warp disruption strength to pin you down, it'll take you even longer to lock and kill or jam them which could be all the time they need to hot drop a bunch of close range ABCs on your ass.
