Another giveaway will just devalue this ship even more.

CCP Greyscale mentioned at Fanfest that he doesn't like the idea of ships that people can't ever own. Whether through giveaways or hard work, he believes all players should have a chance at getting rare ships.

Except in this case, CCP went from one extreme to other. This is not like an Alliance tourny ship.

The "rarity" of this ship will be determined when the BPC becomes public knowledge, and people discover what the material cost to build one is.

At which point, some hulls may get scrapped for materials (currently the Gnosis does not reprocess) if the owners see a profit.

Maybe CCP will have a good laugh at our expense and all those "Villards Wheel" kicking around will have a genuine use for a change. Blink

I had heard through ISD in rookie chat that the ship would still be given to anyone upgrading their trial account, up to 5/31. I celebrated the anniversary while still on my trial, and upgraded today.

Am I to understand that the Gnosis is coming, but may take a while? Or is it not guaranteed but a random giveaway?

I kinda like the Gnosis, kinda don't. I guess its preference. I may not have the optimal fitting though....

As a second day player, someone traded me a bunch of ships I couldn't use yet. The Gnosis was ready to fly within a day or so, and a little bit of knowledge can be a travesty.

After someone told me it was rare, and to never pull it out lest I be ganked immediately, my mind withdrew to comments made by others about, "taking that noobs Gnosis." I began to believe I had inadvertently come across something very special.

Because I'm new to the game, I didn't know this was an anniversary month, and I my friend, whom signed up for the trial the same time, was flabbergasted at the disparity between his best ship and mine. So was I, but I didn't think much of it at that time, because I was not yet under the false impression it was "Rare", when "Unique" may be a better suited word.

So with this late night discovery and no one to talk to, I began to become convinced people would be after my ship, I had been flying it all over like a fool! However, I had no one to confide in. In a hysterically surreptitious fashion, I began asking questions about it to the founders of a Corp I recently applied to. Note, they required a full API key, so I was worried the plan to commandeer may have already been under way.

Happily, I did not fly the best and rarest ship in the game on my 3rd day. Not having much to look forward to from the very beginning would probably have shortened my stay in New Eden. At least I have something to look forward too now!

Well if you can't laugh at yourself!

it is rare, yes. but i don't think people will go to such extremes to get it. :D

a gnosis can be bought for around 80millon isk now, over time price will rise and it will never stop rising due to scarcity but it will never match up to the limited issue ships like AT ships or the unique event ones. (maybe in 20 years it will:p)

to give you an idea, AT ships can easily go for 40 - 80 billon isk, and Event ships can go for upwards to 120billon isk+ (last Guardian-Vexor sold), and some of the unique ones are so expensive that they don't even change hands for isk or money, they are either gifted, or stolen.

a good place to check is http://home.wanadoo.nl/ntt/eve/unique.html this guy has the biggest collection and keeps track of the rarest ships. (and is the owner of a federate mega, currently its the rarest ship in the game, since the original rarest got destroyed by his genius owner.)

the gnosis will never reach those levels, with around 500thousand active accounts you can expect the supply to last a good decade or two, compared to the twenty or so of each AT ship given to AT winners.

having one or two is a good investment.

Anything you fly might get ganked, but I don't think it's likely anyone would gank your Gnosis if you are flying it in highsec and your corporation is not in a war. Its market value is around 80 million ISK last I heard and only going down. It's sturdier than an attack battlecruiser and cheaper too. Given its high hit points to value ratio, it's not much of a gank target.

I flew my Gnosis around on my alt for a while and noticed that several others were also flying one.

I keep my Echelon gift ship in the hangar of my carrier. If I ever get my carrier killed I'm going to eject the echelon before it dies and fly off into the sunset in my completely useless ship.

Or get a load of useless free ships and eject them all at once. In the confusion of all the ships being ejected you then have a pick of which ship you want to sail off in. Big smile

It's human nature to want to explore. To find your line and go beyond it. The only limit, is the one you set yourself.
