I, for one, would not like to hand out free intel to anyone I happen to be fighting at the time.

I don't see how visible kill markers would provide any useful intel to anyone. Can you explain?

The more markers you have the more likely you are to kill them. Mind you, before they get a chance to look for the kill markers you're likely shooting them so in all likelihood they'll explode prior to getting a chance to see so I guess it's a little moot. Big smile

Neat idea. However, I think there are many more important things that CCP should be working on.

If a bait ship is covered in markers, it's obvious what it really is. If a solo roamer is covered in markers, people won't engage. if a battle badger...you get the point.

Great idea! Would love it if these also showed up on killmails so you could see if it was a fresh ship or a really experienced ship you just took down! Would make them all the sweeter.

Instead of placing the kill marker on your ship why not have a section in your character bio that shows all of your kill markers?

Each ship that is killed would have its own icon where a person could click on the icon and a drop down menu would appear showing the number and type of each ship killed for that category. You could then click on each kill marker icon that would display the Kill Mail.

If you lose your ship or get podded you shouldn't lose your kill markers.

OK I get the idea but what if you Contract the ship with it's rigs. You sell it on to someone else who now has a ship with lots of "Vehicle History" attached but can't scrub it out without repackaging it. This could cause some fail in contracts for ships with rigs.

I like the initial thought though but a "Kill History" on a Character Sheet Info would be better so that you could see at a glance who you're dealing with.

problem i can see is how often does anyone actually have the camera zoomed in to the point where they might see something like this?

but that said CCP gave a little bit of a hint towards a degree of ship skin customizing in the 'future of EVE' part of the keynote.

I guess it's a nice idea, but nothing that will be the top of any lists to be added.

Edit: incidentally I think a history that links a current ship to the killmails it has been involved in would be pretty nice, and I don;t think that would be a massive effort. as it would be 1 extra field into the KM table, and then link that back to that instance of the ship and have it shown in ship info.
