Not gnawsis, do you say awperator? It is a short O, I don't think the pronunciation exists in American English, probably because it isn't an American word

Yes, we do say awperator here in the States. Do you have any other word with a short O?

That's how I've always pronounced it. "Roke" or "roak".
And the Gnosis is "no-sys".

And having played Starcraft before I started playing EVE, I can definitely say that an awful lot of people say "zee-lot".

Actually I was wrong. "Gnosis" is a Greek known meaning knowledge. It forms the base of words in English like "gnosticism", "agnostic", etc. So it's a short O, like in "on".
