Target Spectrum Breaker - when to activate?

If my BS gets caught at a gate camp, for example, and I want to escape, should I

(a) activate the Target Spectrum Breaker immediately or
(b) wait till I'm aligned

Is there a good chance of this module working in such a situation, lets say with <10 campers?

Does the module keep cycling?

Any colour you like.

You should wait until aligned and hopefully break locks of anyone scrambling you. It does keep cycling and takes a lot of cap. It could work but it's real power is in huge fights where you activate before broadcasting for reps.

Thank you for the guidance. I tried the module in space. The effects were nice.

As the module cycles every six seconds, it probably makes sense to turn it on immediately, with time for 2 impulses before warp off. Thus doubling the chance of breaking locks. Cap needed for 2 or more cycles is insignificant in the context.

Any colour you like.

Chances of it working against small gang is low. Don't bother.

Question: If you active the Target Spectrum Breaker and then someone targets you in hi-sec, is that a criminal act?

Targeting is never considered a criminal activity, so no, they can just target you again.

@ OP: The module has a higher chance of success when more people have you locked, so cycling it from the beginning will likely have no effect.

I should read my own questions.
The Question should be. When the Target Spectrum Breaker breaks their targeting of you. is the Target Spectrum Breaker cause you to receive a Criminal tag?

I have had people say that when it first came out they tested it in high sec and it would cause you to be concorded like ecm burst would.

but Target Spectrum Breaker will activate while under green safety so that implies you will not get criminally flagged.

So will using a Target Spectrum Breaker get you concorded.. it would seem not but the only way to test is to go to low sec and try it.

notes:
Target Spectrum Breaker is not a ECM Burst module it also appears to not be an offensive module

In high-security space, activating any offensive module on another player's ship or capsule, that you are not legitimately allowed to attack (corpmates, war targets, for example), (including non-targeted modules like Smartbombs) will provoke a Criminal flag, as will assisting a player with a Criminal flag.

Targetted offensive module against illegal player target:
