I wasn't impressed then, and I'm not impressed now.

Corp theft was going on since day one, "other people" did it in a low key fashion over time, pulling more isk/assets over time and not attracting attention to themselves.

You clowns were nothing but attention whores... Lol

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Titans on fire outside "The Alamo" of NOL-M9. I watched massive Super Capital fleets glitter in the dark near the BKG-Q2 gate. All those moments will be lost in time... like tears in rain...  Time to die.

still keep running into people who started playing because of the heist, always fun :)

anyways I been reminiscing a bit about it since I decided to do a write up for eve true stories;

The PC Gamer story was the reason I started playing EVE and I know I'm not the only one.

Hey Tyrrax, long time, haven't seen you since that meet up in Toronto.

Someone seems bitter that they don't know how to PR and make themselves E-Famous. I am not denying anyone are attention whores understand.

"LOLOLOLOLOL SCRUBS! I LIKE STOLE EIGHTY BAJILLION ISK IN SUPER COOL WAYS BUT IM NOT AN ATTENTION WHORE SO YOU CANT VERIFY WHAT I DID SCRUBS BECAUSE IM A NINJA!"

Part of it was the amount true, but the real trick here is the ultra awesome way it was done. It wasn't just inserting into a random corp and stealing assets. You are right that anyone can do that. It is the calculated way it was done. This wasn't just a corp theft, or a kill, it was completing a contract to totally destroy what someone had spent all of their time to build in the space of a few minutes that took a year of careful planning to achieve.

But your jealousy is cute. Please continue.

That was the main reason I got into eve to be honest. Even to this day no other game can surpass EVE on that ( and many many other social related issues)

How time flies when you are having fun.

Happy Birthday Tyrrax Thorrk!

I wish I had taken up that offer to join your prestigious corporation when the hand was extended to me! I could have solo pvp'd for the honour and glory of the GH-SC (It wasn't this character).

Keep making this game interesting. Have you lost a gnosis yet? Ooh, and you have yet another limited edition Magnate to lose!

I love how much smack you get. Just shows how much of an impact you have made on these babbies.

Old and gold.

This was back in the day when Force of Evil was killed by the MC for a 500 million isk contract. And that was alot of money.

EVE online is the fishermans friend of MMO's. If it's too hard you are too weak.

Thanks for all the lovely posts and upvotes you guys are awesom ! :)

@ HostageTaker ; hey come on some of it was pretty hilarious, like when I was fleet commanding both sides of the same fight at once and how DigitalCommunist used an imperial issue apocalypse for the backstabbing

it was executed stylishly, which has to count for something

Back then a month of game time was around 150mil. Thats about 200 plex which at todays rate is still only about 100bil for a good perspective. Much much larger hiests have been pulled but what made that one awesome is that it was the first BIG one ever.

Whether you're impressed with heist itself or not, the story was a compelling one and it brought many, many players into EVE. Among those who game but don't play EVE, its one of only two things they seem to know about the game (the other being It's Hard). CCP should have given the participants lifetime memberships on that basis alone.

Also, props to OP for working those same e-fame skills to move their story to the top of the pile. If it isn't one of the ones chosen for CCP's multimedia campaign, I will be very, very surprised. How smart is CCP with this multimedia push? They're selling the idea of a fictional character becoming famous in reality for doing fictional things. Excellent marketing.

24 hours is "necro" now?

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

Yes I lost the gold magnate back in 2004, was kinda bored with EVE and instead of taking a break I went around solo pvping - roamed around Querious 0.0 quite a bit in my shiny frigate, in one fight I fought 5 m0o frigates and interceptors, managed to kill their crow in a running fight, then ran away.
Later I unwisely engaged a m0o corp gate camp in A2-V2 which consisted of 3 rifters and a raven (all 4 ships were fitted with cruise missiles, and at the time sig radius/speed had no effect on missile damage) I tried to kill the rifters while staying out of web range and moving fast, but made another mistake - went too close and got webbed, splat.
