Incursions.

Okay, so...

I've heard a fair amount of what incursions are. Sansha comes in and gets all "b*itches we own this system now", greedy buggers. But my main question is this: What does it take to run them?

Here's what I know already from being told by people (questions will follow):

- You need an "incursion fleet".
- You need good skills.
- Bling fit your ships for incursions.
- Incursions dont give much reward.

Questions:

- What is an incursion fleet? Sounds stupid to as as the answer is "well its an incursion fleet duh!" but is it just a fleet that does incursions or is there more too it than that? For example, do you need a full fleet of 20 ravens (for example), keeping all the ships the same?

- Obviously you need good skills, but what kind of skills and to what level?

- Bling fit your ships? Okay as much as I like the idea of having fully officer fit ships for incursions, is it really necessary. A simple yes from someone who runs incursions will suffice.

- I am aware incursions give LP but what else? Is there an ISK reward? Is the loot/drops good (if any).

So there are my questions, any other info on incursions from people who run them is welcome.

It's human nature to want to explore. To find your line and go beyond it. The only limit, is the one you set yourself.

If only there were a way to search the internet, maybe by using say, a search engine, that could make us "feel lucky"...

-An incursion fleet comprises of a combination of ships strategically selected to tank as much DPS as possible while also delivering as much DPS as possible.

- Good skills for an incursion fleet are the skills you need to fly ships that will get you in an incursion fleet (no, you can't bring your drake).

- I don't run incursions often, but there is no reason not to bling fit your ships. Not only will it make the incursion more efficient, but you'll make the money back form it very quickly.

- There are the typical rewards you get from doing any PVE activity in incursions

an incursion fleet is a bunch of dudes who shoot at the same target + 2 that keep the rest alive. throw in webs and some tracking links randomly.

all of this under offgrid boosting ofc.

you need skills to fit Tech2 guns or Logi V in case you are flying logistics.

you don't need officer fits, you don't need A type fittings, faction only. eventually as you make more money you are expected to pimp the ship a little. still, more than 3 bill on a ship is asking to get blown up.

incursions reward both LP and Isk. Lp will just sit there until you can trade it for something really expensive like a 6% implant, so don't count on cashing in quick on it.

it can also be traded for any LP but the rate is not 1:1, so its better to sit on it.

To the other two people who commented, cheers for that, cleared up a few things for me Big smile

Incursion fleets are typically 11 man, 20 man or 40 man. There are other sized ones but you don't need to worry about those. You need to find a public incursion community and join them by x-ing up in their channel with your ship and fit.

What you need to get into a fleet varies greatly by how strict the fleet is. Some people have told me there are fleets that will take t1 logis (Only in VGs, I'd imagine), other fleets require faction fits and faction/pirate ships only. In general the more strict the fleet is the highest isk/hour you can make. A good starting point is being able to fly a t1 battleship with t2 guns.

You don't have to officer fit if you join a more open fleet, but keep in mind the lower the standards of the fleet the less isk/hour you'll make.

Incursions give an isk payout upon completion of the site. An HQ site can take anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes depending on the site and fleet composition and rewards 31.5 million isk when done with an optimally sized fleet.

WarpToMe is fairly open to new players. They aren't a high isk/hour fleet but are a good place to learn the ropes and a lot more laid back than some other communities. I think EvEUnit may have public fleets that are low SP as well, but I've never flown with them.

Ah I remember back in the day when incursions were live events and we brought whatever ship we were in doing something else when the alarms went up.

So I'm like, coming into total doom with an exploration ship and the lag is pretty much got everybody flying by text. Lots of people with no fleet experience, shaking, and that first time it was a slugfest. Brawlers mainly. That next time some of us were prepared and we got BCs swarmed with small fast threats taking them out while whoever was controlling those Sansha BS fleets where taking notes on who to primary....so it seemed anyway.

Then the mothership is toast and I'm like "Where's my drones?".

A story was being written. An old foe was back. This was not just reading a good sci fi novel, this was being in it. Like when Mouse Nell got a probe shot of the Sansha fleet on the other side, a glimpse of doom. Doom I tell you. (OK nullsec alliances laughed at the whole thing but work with me here I'm rolling).

Then incursions became these monetized, canned, shiney-ship pageant leet fleet "game content" events and life went back to sucking again.

People saying you need faction fit have it wrong.
T2 Tank. Minimum Meta 4 guns and training for T2 soon to start. & Faction ammo.
Tech 1 Battleships.
Or Tech 2 Logi ships with minimum Logi 4

Look up The Valhalla Project or The Ditanian Fleet, shield & armour respectivly and ask them about your fits.

If you do't want people to give you stupid answers, don't ask stupid questions. Did you not see the MISSIONS and COMPLEXES section of the forum before asking a dumb question?

The fault is yours for not knowing how to use the internet, not Some Rando's for simply pointing out the truth.
