Why should people play EVE? There are so many games out that are way more fun. What is fun about shooting at red boxes in space? New people cannot join the game and compete with anyone and are often left to mine and quit 14 days later. A single person cannot become great anymore. A person cannot create a alliance and go to null and be successful because the Russians will crush any hopes and dreams. The population is down to 20k in US prime time. New ships and some changes is not going to bring back 30k people. Whats the point anymore?

30k in my prime. US Central....must have found 10k more peeps, how about that.

You sound a bit down? Hope you're not quitting on us!

A single person in a MMO can become "great", but not in the lvl99-one-shot-kill-the-whole-room sense. It's the influences that you create, the corporations/alliances that you make and a level of respect and reputation that you gain by mingling with the rest of the players in the game.

Of course this relies on your ability to know a certain level of the game (by experiencing all aspects of EVE) and your ability to keep yourself and others excited in your goals and ultimately in EVE.

Which means a single person can create a successful alliance and conquer null, it's just a question of the time it will take you, but only if your conviction is strong and consistent.

But perhaps you're right in the sense that 14 days for a game such as EVE isn't near long enough for a new player to develop enough interest. Other than that, try to cheer up? (lol)

Define Fun, I like Market Simulators that let me construct and build my own wares. I want this simulator to move more currency in an hour then Earth can in a year and produce more M3 of Products a minute then Earth can make in a month. I want this simulator to also be in a Massive Warzone 1000x the size of WW2 that is endless. I want to then join or build my own Gang, Corporation, Movement or Empire that shakes the foundations of this place.

I was in a 40+ Man Fight 2 hours ago. Ruptures, Vexors, Mallers, Omens, Bellicose's, Caracals Arbitrators and Moa's flanked by Thrashers, Catalysts, Punishers, Rifters, Merlins, Kestrals and Tristans blasting the life out of each other from with-in 20km.

Know what I saw... Everything.

I also see the enemy ship just fine in small gang and solo fights.

Last major Blob Battle in Null Sec I was in, I saw hundreds of Drakes by my side and the long Solar Panels of the Maelstroms and Tempests on the horizon like Sharks slicing through Space towards our fleet.

Hint: You do not need to Zoom out all the way for every little thing.

Bullsh*t, you can be an effective Rifter tackler in a weak, a passable Arty cane or Heavy Drake Pilot in a Month and an Arty Baddon/Mael in 2 Months. There is a ton of PvE content to keep you occupied as well.

No, you just can't become great. The Greats are not great because they came early but because they have done great things. Do great things then you will be recognized.

No you don't get to build a Solo Pwn Alliance anymore. There is politics, you go in like a third world nation joining an organization. Then you gain more power/branch off/form your own coalition/betray everyone.

Today's peak was 38000.

EVE could use some more Casual stuff and maybe throw the Noobs a Life Preserver. But all the people who play, know why they play.

Because EVE is Alive. A Universe of Life: living, building working, destroying and fighting together and against each other.
