New Zealand is the first country to greet the dawn. We have the only company (that I'm aware of) that rents spaceships Here. We're 12 hours off Eve time, so we don't have to do a lot of head-scratching to figure out when events are. And yet, we still get passed over for advertising! Outrageous!

I believe that is Kiribati that the sun is generally considered the country the sees the sun first.

You mustn't watch TV ever. Even I barely watch TV & I've seen multiple EA published games aired on Australian TV. Warcraft has also been advertised a few times along with Square Enix games... I could go on for ages about all the games that are advertised on Australian TV.

You realise it may also be the location we live in? We don't have national TV networks. As you would well know. What is shown in Sydney, is not what is shown in Melbourne, nor is it shown in Brisbane. Even if it is, it may not be shown on the same channel.

I have been to see many, many movies, watched television quite frequently, and never seen a TV Spot for a Game except for a single one that was actually one for V Energy Drink that incorporated Halo 4 Images. Not an advert for Halo 4.

We all have that same SBS. Have you ever watched SBS? It's far better than that 'free to air' trash.

I can GUARANTEE you CoD or Assassin's Creed was never advertised on SBS!

Not having lived outside of Australia for any extended period of time I can't say much for advertising in the rest of the world, but CCP does not have much (if any) real presence here. Apart from the occasional advertisement in banners online, EVE is largely spread via word of mouth.
As for Dust 514 I have not seen any advertisements in Australia whatsoever; I have even found searching for it on the PSN to be quite difficult. If Dust is to be competing as a AAA shooter it needs to have some visible presence. I think that the sale of mercenary pack codes, aurum etc could help with giving the game a presence in stores, and some targeted advertising on the PSN, on and on popular Australian/NZ websites and television programs (such as Good Game for example) would help dramatically.
Although we have a relatively small population between us, Australia and New Zealand are both generally quite wealthy in comparison to much of the world, and could provide more than enough return on investment in advertising; both in terms of monetary expenditure and through time spent gaming. There are a lot of dedicated gamers down here - take a look at the relative success of Briggs in Planetside 2; that server has done a lot better than some of the US servers which have since resulted in mergers.

Here's a thought...Ask CCP if you can promote EVE, aka grab a load of free trials off them, set up a pitch somewhere, a tv ad whatever and do it that way...

While they might say no, worth a shot right?

It's human nature to want to explore. To find your line and go beyond it. The only limit, is the one you set yourself.

Really? Because you know they used to run pornography on SBS right? Call of Duty is the advertisment I see most frequently.

i think it'd be good for eve to advertise on TV and stuff, bring in all the themepark players and such.

provided we're allowed to be our merciless evil selves and scam them, gank them, and send them crying back to WoW before their trial is over.

Did you know that word of mouth advertising is the best advertising there is? It helps build bridges in game before the person ever downloads, it helps create retention, and create virality. Advertise on your facebook page. Advertise with your coworkers. Advertise with the people you want to play games with.

My advice: do your part.

I do. All over the place on teh interwebs. Probably cookie-tracking software. Which is funny as hell - 'cause they're busily trying to sell to me - a long-time player with active subscriptions.
Not exactly the best use of CCP's advertising budget, yanno?

Tell someone you love them today, because life is short. But scream it at them in Esperanto, because life is also terrifying and confusing.

I have already contacted CCP, and should it come to it, as stated in the above, I already have myself, and a voluntary cadre from my corporation working on Magazine Adverts, and other forms of media.

I'm also working on my local rag (newspaper) trying to get them on board, as well at the State-level ones. National news here (aside from SBS which airs the least impressive line-up of most shows) doesn't exist. It's all done at the regional level.

This petition is to show there is support for the idea out there, that people in Australia and New Zealand, and beyond want the player base to expand here. We want DUST 514 advertised here under CCPs name... not JUST under The Southern Legion.

The Southern Legion intends to advertise in some way, shape, or form across Australia and New Zealand, but CCP will only fringe benefit from that. A direct campaign by them, or supported by them, would be much more impactful.

Yet there are more Americans aware of this game.

There are more Europeans aware of this game.

The number of Australians who have even heard of this game is fractional of the whole.

US and EU have TV Spots for games. We have a singular half-decent show that doesn't even touch EVE Online, or DUST 514. We have a miniscule few PC Gaming and PS Gaming Magazines...

The majority of Australian Gamers who play DUST picked it up via idly browsing the PSN Store, or playing EVE Online. Or then by word of mouth.

DUST 514 has a TV Spot almost ready to be aired later this year. And though I would have hoped, the fact is no gaming company has ever aired a TV Commercial for a Game in Australia or New Zealand.

I've seen plenty of game ads around Melbourne and on TV.
Tomb Raider on the side of a bus
Mass Effect 3 at a bus stop
Mass Effect 2 and 3, WoW, Assassins Creed 3, Call of Duty, Bioshock Infinite and more that I can't remember off the top of my head on TV

Edit: I also just saw an ad for the new Superhero fighting game (don't remember the name) at the movies

Now, more than ever, we need a dislike button.

And even if I were inclined to have seen these myself (which I have not) does this mean CCP should NOT advertise in Australia? No.

In fact your allegations suppose that they should seriously look at it even more so.

So stop pointing out alleged holes in my post, and support the idea behind it. Advertising EVE and DUST 514 on Asutralian and New Zealand TV.

In answer, however, I have never seen a bus anywhere with Tomb Raider on the side, nor any of the other games you've mentioned. The only time I have personally seen Games advertising is a) the V Energy Drink Commercial I have mentioned above (which was about the drink, not the game) and on the window of a Gaming Internet Café.

Even then, I have not seen DUST 514 mentioned, nor EVE Online.

Whilst i Still had a Facebook account, i was trying very hard to get GoodGame (MA) to do a spot on CCP, but so far have had no luck. I am starting to think that CCP refused GG Beta codes for DUST 514 .... :P

I don't think CCP could handle 500.000 simultaneously online anyway :P

Challenge Accepted? :P
