[PETITION] CCP Advertising in Oceanic Countries!

Most of the gaming world forget about us in the Oceanic Countries. We only hear about things second-hand, if we're already in the gaming industry, or we're introduced by someone already in the gaming arena.

With the announcement and preview of the DUST 514 TV Spot due to air in the coming year, I ask that CCP be one of the first game companies to include Australia in the initial launch of this exciting game, and continued advertising on Public Free-to-Air Channels across Australia and New Zealand.

Many members of my own corporation are investigating Printed Magazine Advertisements, TV Spotlights, and other forms of widespread advertising for our corporation, as well as DUST 514 and EVE Online, but here is a petition to get CCP looking into it too. Supporting Australian and New Zealand Gamers like they support the European, and United States Gamers for both DUST 514 and EVE Online.

Comment below if you support this!

I understand where you are coming from, I Live in AUS too, most of the people I speak to have either played/playing Eve and know what I'm talking about, or have completely no idea that it even exists, there is not that in between ground where they know of it. Same with Dust 514.

Honestly, it's not really AUS or Oceania issue, more like EVE issue.

Yeah unless I've told them about it most people I know don't know anything about Eve.

Same here, I found out about Eve from a close mate in late 2010. To this day im still spewing I hadn't seen an advertisement for Eve in 2003.

i think it'd be good for eve to advertise on TV and stuff, bring in all the themepark players and such.

provided we're allowed to be our merciless evil selves and scam them, gank them, and send them crying back to WoW before their trial is over.

I think the silly name of the game is at least part of it. Of course we are used to it, but before a friend made me try out this game in 2009, I had occasionally seen ads for "EVE Online" and never gave them even a second look because the name sounds like it's a "The Sims" clone or some game where you put nice dresses on your ragdoll girls.

Ok, the last part is actually doable now Shocked But still the name does not really confer what the game is about.

Agreed. I thought pretty much the same as well.

You would think it would be best to at least wait till they sub for a month. Otherwise it's just wasted money on advertising.

Yet there are more Americans aware of this game.

There are more Europeans aware of this game.

The number of Australians who have even heard of this game is fractional of the whole.

US and EU have TV Spots for games. We have a singular half-decent show that doesn't even touch EVE Online, or DUST 514. We have a miniscule few PC Gaming and PS Gaming Magazines...

The majority of Australian Gamers who play DUST picked it up via idly browsing the PSN Store, or playing EVE Online. Or then by word of mouth.

DUST 514 has a TV Spot almost ready to be aired later this year. And though I would have hoped, the fact is no gaming company has ever aired a TV Commercial for a Game in Australia or New Zealand.

i don't know, i think the subsequent tears and word of mouth advertising is worth the money.

Actually, that is incorrect, Hunter.

Activision, Ubisoft and 343 Industries aired ads for Black Ops, Assassin's Creed III and Halo 4 respectively. Not that sales would have suffered, but even mature aged potential gamers got on board when they were at the movies and saw a trailer for a video game!

Dust and Eve would gain tremendous attention Down Under with the simple addition of an advert and a push for a review from the show 'Good Game'.

On a side note, i've just finished a 12 hour shift at work, finally got on the puter to go and get my birthday presents, and now the server is offline!

Have i missed out on all my gifts?

Please CCP remember some of us live a long way away but we love the game too, maybe even an event in our prime-time, just once?

I have a vague memory of having seen an EVE promo at the movies, but not entirely sure, though i was amde aware of the game back in 2008/09.

It wouldn't hurt to advertise down under, it would just be a matter of cost vs how many more subscriptions would it bring into the game.

Cheers,

I could seriously see cinema advertising working for EVE in Australia, if the movies are chosen well. Anything sci-fi or fantasy that gets a lot of young adults to it would be worthwhile.

The Retribution trailer, adjusted for an audience that doesn't know the game would work well, as could the Dominion trailer (which might be too long). Or for that matter, 'I Was There'.

New Zealand is the first country to greet the dawn. We have the only company (that I'm aware of) that rents spaceships Here. We're 12 hours off Eve time, so we don't have to do a lot of head-scratching to figure out when events are. And yet, we still get passed over for advertising! Outrageous!

You mustn't watch TV ever. Even I barely watch TV & I've seen multiple EA published games aired on Australian TV. Warcraft has also been advertised a few times along with Square Enix games... I could go on for ages about all the games that are advertised on Australian TV.

What about Halo 3, 2, 1... Call of Duty 4, 3, All the rest. Even if companies have 'started' putting their toes in AU / NZ, shouldn't CCP follow that example.

You realise it may also be the location we live in? We don't have national TV networks. As you would well know. What is shown in Sydney, is not what is shown in Melbourne, nor is it shown in Brisbane. Even if it is, it may not be shown on the same channel.

I have been to see many, many movies, watched television quite frequently, and never seen a TV Spot for a Game except for a single one that was actually one for V Energy Drink that incorporated Halo 4 Images. Not an advert for Halo 4.

We all have that same SBS. Have you ever watched SBS? It's far better than that 'free to air' trash.
