Bank Holiday Downtime

Hi all

One of the main features for me coming to the game was the lack of random and extended downtimes, also when patches happened they arrived on a Tuesday, a day I don't play much.

I've logged in today to find the game will be down for almost 7 hours on a Bank Holiday (estimated time).

Is this normal to take the game down during potentially busy times?

Only reason I'm asking is that I came here from SWTOR where the continual downtimes (many unannounced, you suddenly found yourself kicked out of the game and it down 'indefinitely') made trying to play the game a nightmare.

Its not a normal thing, dont worry about it.

Its mostly due to today being when a dust upgrade goes in and since dust is more integrated with eve we are bound to be affected.

And its closer to 5 hours unless they changed the announcement.

It's only on patch days FYI. And also being in Iceland, I'm sure they didn't know about the bank holiday.

Just feel luck you don't live in Australia. Downtime is right in the middle of our evening playtime and patch night is usually a very hard night for us...

Well it's ~4.5 hours, not 7, and on patch days an extended downtime isn't particularly typical, but remember that they're also releasing a new expansion for DUST 514.

Enjoying the rain today? ;)

no idea where i got that time from, think i took 1 hour off the start for BST then added 1 hour on the end for BST, must remember to not log into the game while still in bed, lol.

thanks for the replies, I haven't been in the game long and would rather leave than go through the SWTOR experience again.

but if its just a rare occurrence then back to mining.

It's a shame that CCP don't talk to each other, yesterday on the forum CCP Explorer said the fireworks giveaway would be running until downtime today 11:00 gmt

Forum Post

It is sort of poor planning, I know there's never a good time to run an extended downtime, but on their birthday weekend? who's going to be sober enough to flick the switch anyway Twisted

You should know that the people of Iceland don't care much for banks or their holidays.

Here, in sunny Manchester, it is actually sunny.

Nice walk to my local garden centre, then a spot of gardening.

I am just pleased that CCP planned this patch to coincide with Manchester's one day of summer weather so far this year.

This is not a signature.

Just out of curiosity, what happens with a 2B collateral courier contract that have less than 3 hour to complete but the DT is about 5 hours long? :P My wallet will get fat or the hauler will get some extra time to complete the job?

If you aren't patient enough to handle a rare extended downtime, then you aren't patient enough to play this game. Move along.

It's ok. Your bank holiday is cancelled out by it not being a bank holiday over here, so it all comes out even.

This might come as a shock to you, so please sit down before reading the next sentence. There are countries outside of your country. Pretty much all of them don't have this holiday & thus, don't care.
