Returning for a fourth time

Hey everybody.

I just re-subbed for a fourth time, due to the immense pull to EVE and it's universe. I'm still very new to the game, and gave it up three times previously because I couldn't find my way to keep me playing. Yet, I keep returning to try again. Returning yet again, I desperately want to find my way and continue playing! Cool

Hopefully this time around I can find it, and i'm hoping for some help.

What would any players recommend on finding their way? I've looked through player corps for new pilots, I've tried a few different things as a "career," so on and so forth. Any recommendations on where else to look for guidance or ideas, or even new things to try? I'm hoping to have the breakthrough I need to get into EVE. Any pointers will do. Smile Thanks in advance!

The two best pieces of advice are find something you enjoy some mine others run mission, and most pvp. The second find people to do those things with.

Always willing to help all you have to do is ask, though if you're in the other fleet I may not help the way you want. Just a heads up. Pub Channel: Lost Souls Trading Post

what are your interests? i'm not hitting on you; it's a good way to gauge what you would enjoy in EVE. for example, if you enjoy other competitive team games or sports, chances are you are a PVP player. if you prefer single player games, you may find production or exploration more interesting, etc.

I should buy an Ishtar.

I'm trying to find any route that could push me in the right direction. I've tried different things such as mining and PvE. I joined a corp last time I played, but unfortunately they weren't really active enough for me to get anything done. Is a corp the way to go, or would just trying out different things alone be better?

Perhaps try a corp like Brave Newbies for activity or Red vs Blue if you feel like trying PvP.

Although I've never been in Brave Newbies from all accounts it sounds like a fun time, with plenty of people around to help out and make things interesting.

RvB was a blast (no literally, everything blows up), and some of the most fun I've had in Eve.

Hm. I'll take a look at Brave Newbies and RvB. Thanks for the recommendations. Cool

Any other recommendations or tips, anyone? I appreciate the responses so far.

During my time I found that social aspect > gameplay aspect. By this I mean that it is more important to fly with fun, right kind of people, who might evolve into friends, than to do a "fun" labeled activity.

I remember ice mining in nullsec ... very boring, we tried hiding in shame, but eventually made this activity fun by playing hangman.

I'm back myself recently after a 2 year break.

My advice is don't do anything you have done before. This is simply due to the fact you'll get bored and leave. Now while I appreciate you may have to do some missions for ISK I suggest you google and check out different vids etc and look into doing what this game does best - PVP :)

Frank Pannon, I've heard that a bit. Although I do enjoy the more mundane things, I definitely enjoy good player interaction. I'll keep a lookout for the right people to have fun with while playing. I just hope to actually understand what I'm doing for fun.

This.

The amount of times that I really considered to stop playing can't be counted anymore using my hands.

If it wasn't for the pleasure I get from helping new players here or from having a good laugh with friends in game, I would have stopped playing ages ago.

I've done this several times. I created my account early 2006, and I continue to come back every time I think I've finally quit.

The best way advice that I could give would be to get in a good corp with a lot of players. The social aspect turns Eve into a completely different game. There will be people of every single playstyle in a large corp, and they're usually looking for help, whether it's ratting, PVP, industry, etc... there is usually always room for 1 more.

Second would be don't necessarily limit yourself to just one path. I surprisingly enjoy the industrial aspects. Mining for minerals, building ships and components from blueprints and hauling them to Jita, it's amazingly fun to me, but on the other hand, it's great fun to go ratting on occasion as well and other things, look at a main focus, but don't limit your character to just that.

Weird how alone you can feel in a galaxy full of people right? EVE needs a way better chatroom system where people can come together to just joke around and make contacts.

I see you joined the Brave Newbies hype. It's quite large, I hope you don't get lost in it. Nothing worse then being a goon in something that doesn't need nor care for you.

Good luck finding your niche m8 o/

Reopen the EVE gate so we can invade Serenity. Goons can go first.

Many thanks, Radius. Smile Although Brave Newbies isn't set in stone entirely, hopefully it'll be the place for me. I'm still open to suggestions though.
