Today Amabassador Matshi Raish delivered an address from the CONCORD Bureau in in Yulai, below is the transcript of what he had to say.

Quote:
Matshi Raish > And so, with the strike of ten, it begins.

Children of New Eden. Welcome.

Ten years ago, a sudden advance in technological capabilty heralded a new dawn for the people of New Eden. It brought about a new age for the human race.

The result, was all of you.

Capsuleers. The Empyreans. The first generation of post-humans.

The Society of Conscious Thought has watched your development over the course of the last ten years.

We have watched you, the Empyreans, develop from a small group of promising individuals who sucessfully made the transition into posthumanism a decade ago, into a faction of your own.

A faction strong enough to create your own empires. A faction strong enough to govern and manage yourselves, albeit via methods through which the Society of Conscious Thought has not always approved.

However, in the same respect, the cluster has been witness to how the perception of life and death, and the value of such concepts, can become twisted by those whom become alienated from their grasp.

We have watched you create, build, and nurture, while at the same time we have watched you burn, crush and destroy the dreams of trillions.

The very existance of the capsuleer is a paradox.

You are those who no longer know the meaning of death, defeated in battle only to rise again, reborn.

For ten years, the Society of Conscious Thought has monitored your progress since the flood gates opened at the dawn of the Empyrean Age.

We watched as the immortal children of New Eden took their first steps into the void. We watched as you first spread your wings, and reached for the heavens.

We have watched you colonize, create, and grow, and at the same time we have watched you shatter entire worlds, tear down empires and crush those whom would oppose you.

The Society of Conscious Thought comes to you today with a message, and a gift.

Tomorrow, we will gift every capsuleer in New Eden a Gnosis-class Society of Conscious Thought designed battlecruiser, and with it, we relay the following message:

Our message to you is simple.

Tomorrow, the Second Decade of the Empyrean Age dawns.

Tomorrow, we embark on the next stage of our journey.

Children of New Eden, Empyreans... accept our gift, and realise your true potential.

The beginning of a new era has just appeared over the horizon. A new dawn of exploration is about to begin.

Seize this new beginning, and use the gift of the Gnosis to assist in reaching your full potential.

We will be watching, as always.

The address passed without incident.

May this be an era of enlightenment where humanity embraces what makes us special. Our reason, our potential and science. To embrace the futures and shed the shackles of old dead ways.

Sounds like all this 'watching' inspired them to vehemently hold no opinion at all on the matter.

How courageous.

Bloviated relics dedicated to long-dead corpses. SoCT are merely shadows somehow still lingering after the Jovians withered and died.

They might occasionally have a few trinkets to hand out to distract you fools, but little else of note.

Oh look. Yet another topic where Silas pretends to be all-knowing, and demands we all bow down to her superior knowledge and supposed power.

Give it a rest already.

I suspect I am not the only True Amar who dislikes organizations devoted to the Jove.

A hunch.

No doubt.

However, there's a difference between hoping a race has "withered and died", and declaring that they have.

If you see a Jovian let me know and I'll be the first to correct my opinion.

But as they are already dead and gone I don't think that will be the case *wink*

Groups like the SoCT count upon people venerating the Jove to continue to exist.

It is true that there are many Amarrians who don't like the Jove. Indeed, I am one of them.

But being a True Amarr is as much about soul as genetics, and you stopped being one the moment you betrayed the Empire.

Now that I think of it, the average capsuleer does act like a ten-year-old.

Makes perfect sense.

... oh dear. I think I'm rubbing off on you. I'm told it comes out with liberal application of alcohol though.

Whether that's "comes out" in the sense of removing a stain or opening a door, I cannot say.

If implants are enough to consider one has gone beyond humanity, then my great aunt who had a hip replacement is posthuman too. And hubris, stupidity, violence, insanity are human behaviours : we're not "post-" anything on that level either.

We're not immortals, just able to cheat death when it occurs under very specific circumstances. The oldest of us have been around for ten years : a tad early to be talking about immortality. Even if our moment last centuries, even if it last millenniums, we will die eventually. Everything that lives does.

As for our potential : the local chat during this speech was another proof that the psychological compatibility with the capsule has nothing to do with intelligence. If the Gnosis is a tool to help us achieve our true potential : a good chunk of them will be lost in more or less stupid ways. Since there's no blueprint of those shinies, many of those fine ships will never undock, gathering dust until their owner sell them.

Explosions, ship spinning and trade : that seems an accurate summary of our potential.

And don't get me wrong : I love being a capsuleer -but being spoonfed cheap propaganda just rubs me the wrong way.

Actually the collectors edition has a 5run BPC of the gnosis. Personally I think that BPC should be a BPO to ensure that the ship remains in production...

To you, my children, flung so far
O'er winding lanes twixt world and star

A simple gift, at your tenth year
A glint of joy, amidst loss and fear.

Finding Jovian ways, you leapt
Free for glory, and never slept.

Beslimed, empodded, but unbound
By mortal chains, you have now found

You have grown, and fought. Won, and lost,
Armadas, empires, at vast cost

Built and crushed, in withering fire.
Ever again aiming higher,

Patient calculus guides your hands,
But when war calls, its harsh demands

Bring forth wild chaos between both foes
And friend alike, and in death throes

You find life anew.

Riches, fame, despair and dust
High ideals, greed, and base bloodlust

All whirl within you, and without
Fell piracy tempts you, and out

In cold darkness, amidst the void
You wait, chill cruelty, unalloyed

To prey upon the young, the weak
Thrills of the trap, the kill, you seek.

What law next will your quick minds spurn?
To where now will your hard eyes turn?

Oh, children, may you swiftly learn!

Thanks for the correction, though I'm not sure what this "collector edition" is.

Doesn't much change my point, though.
