I saw a youtube video earlier that was really nice but only in 720p. I had hoped CCP or whoever has the right tools could make another in 1080p for each planet with a full rotation, some zooming in on interesting things like lightning, water effects, etc etc and end each planet view where it can loop perfectly. That way someone can make a good wallpaper out of it (those of us who can have dynamic / video wallpapers like me).

Here's a video I tried to make, but it didn't come out to well. The game cursor was in it, the little planetary infrastructure ring was there, and it was slightly laggy with the effect of dragging my mouse around.

(Might be a neat idea if CCP made some screensavers :P)

Thanks, I'll take a look here as soon as I can. Do you know if CCP would be able to make a sort of loop-able screensaver/video of each planet though? That would be rather nice. I like to have video wallpapers even if they are graphically generated rather than just a video file (Like turning my desktop into water), and I'm sure rendering an EVE planet wouldn't be that hard on my CPU/GPU to have as a desktop wallpaper. :P Though pre-renders (videos) are fine too.

I don't think it'd really be that hard to get a planet to spin in EVE, you'd just have to add a spin effect to the object and make it slow. So it'd spin when you're not in planet view. Other than that, spinning the object for the purposes of making a loop-able video would be great, as it'd make the planet you are viewing feel more real. Or have the camera 'orbit' the planet as if you were looking down at a planet via satellite.

Guess I'm just trying to explain a few ideas I have for making a good eve planet video wallpaper / render wallpaper. My favorite planets tend to be Lava, especially when the game forgets to load the crust (and it's just a big red ball of molten fire. xP). :P

Also, it is rather nice to get a Dev reply. Or a reply at all. Every topic I've ever posted either gets ignored or dies out after the first reply or 2. :P Mostly cause they are suggestions and no one pays attention to those it seems.

Speaking of planets. CCP, in the future, can we get more variation on moon type. The possibilites are endless

Desert Moons
Temperate Moons
Ocean moons
etc.

Just in our OWN solar system we have

Asteroid moons (Mars, Gas Giants)
Volcanic moons (Io)
Moons with atmospheres (Titan)
Ice Moons (Europa)

The moons look great currently, but the EVE star Cluster is huge, it can use more variation in moon graphics. How cool would it be if Large Gas Giants had desert, temperate or Ocean moons?

Don't know how to make screensavers.



It would be interesting, but the more you add to EVE, the more players you push out that have low end PCs barely able to do the minimum.

So you want anyone who runs 5+ accounts on one computer to get out?

Let me clarify.

If your PC cant handle 1 client on min settings without spazing out, get out.

If your PC cant handle 1 client but you are running/trying to run 5 clients, you've got other issues.

If your PC can run 5 clients on min settings fine, then we're good.
