I think Star Citizens will be a a cracking game, but as many people have said it is not a competitor for Eve, there are 2 different types of games, Star Citizens is more freelancer.

However, the one area where it might effect Eve are those players who love the Industrial side of Eve and hate any type of PvP, those types of players who are more then happy to do nothing but mine and build and get very angry and shouty if they lose a ship.

better than eve in that it's more like elite/privateer which is a major draw for this game?

probably. but eve is really more about an epic scale persistent, player driven universe.

I will never know as EvE and Dust are the only Video games I plan on playing for a long, long time...

and:

in before the thread gets locked for talking about the competition or some other violation of the forum rules.

not that I envision that game to be any serious competition to EVE anyway.

If Star Citizen can pull off all the things they are saying they will achieve then I am afraid it will probably be better than Eve in most aspects. However, what they're saying they are going to do just sounds like boasting to me. They have one game play demo they have been playing over and over again at every convention and it hasn't been updating since they released it almost a year ago. I think it's probably going to end up a mediocre game with many broken promises.

Eve may be full of broken promises, but it's certainly not mediocre.

It will be more arcade type game. It will be fairly simple game for every mainstream guy out there, without the complexity and depth of eve online.

Hello

Star Citizen. okay I just started looking in to this game and so far I like it from what I saw on Video
it has a nice Video also
when I first started playing eve way back then I got in to it because I liked the videos they made and when I played the game it was good.

BUT

Now what do you think of Star Citizen Compared to Eve online
think it be Good ?
just something that will die out fast like other games in the past ?

Don't get me wrong I love my Eve.
but I also been looking for a better game that has what I want in it.
Eve has served me well over there years. but like an old toy you have to put it away some times and try something fresh Shocked
to keep wanting to play with it.

So again what do think of the 2 games ?

Both games are good / looking promising. I'll be playing star citizen for the twitch based gameplay and eve for the grand scale it has to offer. Different itches to scratch.

i think Star Citizen will wipe the floor with EVE in just about every way. maybe it wont be as big of a sandbox but who cares. space fans like myself have been waiting for a game like SC for a long time, but had to settle for EVE because it's all we have.

Sure. In much the same way as Euro Truck Simulator is better than Sim City, i.e. N/A.

The only way it will be able to compete with EVE is by providing a more realistic sci-fi experience. That and the fact that it will be released with WiS will probably make it quite popular for roleplayers.

I think EVE has the upperhand when it comes to politics, strategy, size of the galaxy and the fact that it's all on one shard.

When I first started playing EVE I was looking for that "Star Wars Starfighter" experience but I grew to like EvE for what it is. EVE may lose some people who only play EVE because it gives them that sci-fi spaceship experience but that's only if Star Citizen can provide it in a more realistic and entertaining way.

Both games are quite enjoyable.

One thing to note is that Star Citizen is being designed with Freelancer and Privateer in mind. This is all with "proper" physics as well. (I seriously miss good physics in space games. Anyone remember I-War?) Trade, combat, piracy, exploration are all ambitious goals that Star Citizen will attempt to offer.

With not so much as pre-alpha footage being shown, it's really difficult to say if it is "better", but it may appeal to people who find EvE's slower pace for combat (which I love) to be lacking. That's not to say that the alternative game mechanics wouldn't be appreciated by EvE players as well.

We'll see where it goes in the long run. It still has years of development behind it, and I hope it'll turn out well. While I've put up $260+ on the thing, I have been paying more for EvE during it's lifetime so far.

It's in pre-alpha so who the hell knows. Wait until at least closed beta before you start speculating.

Star Citizen is not an mmo, he says specifically in the Q&A. Therefore you can't compare it to EVE

I love how every other forum apart from this one actually defines General Discussion correctly. Here it seems people get upset at reality and other things not related to Eve intruding into their headspace in the general forum. Says a lot really.

And yes star citizen is going to be awesome. A lot more wild west/Firefly vibes which is a huge plus imo. Also at the same time as the truly lame/non existent eve content at fanfest I get an email describing the 10 different classes of EVA suit that are going to be in SC. Go figure.
