T1 weapons maelstrom or T2 weapons sleipnir for lvl4 missions ?

Is the sleipnir much slower to make missions with than the maelstrom ?
I'm still training large projectiles to V and it will take a while , so I'm thinking of buying a sleipnir and flying with it for now.

what do you think ?

I think you should EFT it up for yourself

Last I looked into it, the Sleipnir had some (read:lots of) range issues in L4 missions.

As mentioned due to range issues, a t1 gun mael will still outperform a Sleipnir, however the lack of Barrage hurts, so it may be quite close since you can't use t2 guns, as said, EFT it up and see the applied damage at range.

arty sleip?

why not?

It's fitted like a beefed up cane but obviously shield boosted instead of passive tanked.

Well , thanks for the answers.
I tried EFTING both and sleipnir looked ok , but one thing I overlooked was the range.(I dont know much about lvl 4 missions)
I'll try more fits for both.
maybe artie sleipnir would be nice.

There's not really much reason to train T2 weapons for Mael. Only real advantage is T2 Ammo which is situational at best. Aside from that, fittings on T2 1400s are tough to work wil. I fly a Mael with Meta 4 1400s in higher end 0.0 Sansha anoms with little effort.

Try something along the lines of this. Will take reasonable fitting skills and is very close on CPU. Fitting T2 1400s would take some major compromises.

Can be adjusted for damage specific resists and/or a MJD if that fits your tactics better.

T2 autocannons on a Mael can be nice, because of the access to Barrage (if you've got a largely short-range mission that also throws some long-range boats at you, or you want to open range and snipe frigates before chainsawing the heavier rats). For artillery, on the other hand, M4 guns will pack a good wallop at any range (the +1 falloff for short-range ammo is beyond the Mael's targeting range). There's not much call for Quake or Tremor.

In fact, the only shortcoming I can see is that there's no short-range, high-damage projectile round with a good kinetic punch.

Or you can fit with MWD instead and better mitigate those issues. Or even dual prop the damn thing.

Mael is probably equal or better than all but the arti fit. But the Sleipnir is way more fun to fly.

It depends how *much* you value unstacked +8% or +10% to damage.
