i remember CCP saying that changing station attributes is more work than just changing database values

maybe someone hardcoded the amount of production slots into the outpost code ?

It probably was hardcoded and similar to POSs they decided not to have any documentation on it. So unless the person who wrote the code still works there(or remembers it) they will have to reverse engineer how the code works or rewrite it.

I have a feeling that the new outpost slot numbers will be running relatively close to the maximum allowed using the current bit allocation, and that to increase them further would require increasing the number of bits used for slotIDs.

I feel disappointed that I wasn't there. And really, sure CCP is a major part of it but partying with fellow space-nerds is a big part of it too.

Whereas the upcoming Odyssey expansions seems to consist of tweaks to database tables (mining changes), a new way to see existing content (discovery scanner) and a few ship re-skins and modifications. No mention at all of modular POS's, ring mining, and direct X 11 tessellation.

Does anyone else feel short-changed by this?

Seems to be pretty much just you. Maybe you missed Seagull's keynote presentation full of awesome?

I am guessing that the OP never visited Fanfest. Because you can find a developer and ask them the questions you want to ask, rather than hoping they come up on the stream.

That's what Fanfest is for me anyway, you guys the players able to sit down and talk to us directly.
I can't wait until next year! Cool

Yep it's all CCP's fault. I went to Fanfest for the 10th and greatest. Took my significant other who thought games were a waste of time... Significant other, thanks to folks we met and CCP staff created her own account tonight. Congrats CCP see you next year. Fanfest is was awesome, addicting, and recommended to all. See you in Vegas!

Actually going to Fanfest is a real eye opener. It's easy to be disapointed when you're sitting on your butt at home watching it, but when you're actually there it is a lot different. Even the WOD stuff looked exciting this year.

My guess is dust will not be a big success, and eve players with self interests will play dust in conjunction with their eve accounts. Sure it might be all shiny at first then like a lot of other spin-offs it will smolder out.

Your guess is wrong. Dust has a fairly large & dedicated player base now & it's only going to get bigger as more features are thrown in. Dust is apart of the EVE Universe now, you might aswell get used to the idea.

To much DUST stuff for me.

But, like a band flogging their latest album when most folk just want the old hits, they have to promote it.

However, CCP staff who did the interviews and presentations were, without exception, excellent.

This is not a signature.

after reading the patch notes on urising, AND the **** they're doing to BS's, yes, yes i am VERY dissapointed, CCP doesn't seem to be listening to their player base and are more concerned with making specific dates because it's "the first decade)

Yeah i do. Considering it was EVEs 10 year anniversary, i was disappointing that it focused on Dust so much. I'm glad i didn't attend.

I was expecting a nice surprise regarding a future expansion but the best thing about is was some pie in the sky bs about player build stargates and a vaporware oculus rift project.

Snap. It feels like progress with EVE is incredibly slow.

For the third year in a row we have been treated to pipe dreams and future visions, while actually having very little delivered at the present.

I was really hoping for DX11 news, or some sort of graphic upgrades. New era of technology no?

It is better that CCP actually takes focus on something and make small changes that affects the game instead of going bombaclat and updating everything and making new things.

The only real disappointment about fanfest was that Dust was not announced for PC.

I kill kittens, and puppies and bunnies. I maim toddlers and teens and then more.

My biggest dissapointment just like last year was... WAY too much dust bunny stuff X this was my 7th time and while some stuff is good alot has been going downhill for EVE PLAYERS compared to how it was before Evil

Yeah i feel like that a little, i understand Dust is comming etc but it's EVE 10th anni...

They don't show anything superb like in every year, EVR was awesome but it's side project, may not even be implemented.
Nothing on ring mining, POSes, new mining mechanic, WIS, flying in planets atmosphere or something completly new.

Oddysey bring awesome updates but nothing new, and im afraid exploration will get only facelifting nothing new and redone like it should be and like they say...

Depends on your expectations really imo. I expected more from fanfest since it's the first time I watched it but besides the keynote and one other presentation, nothing else was all that interesting for me. I'm sure it's great if you are there but I didn't get much out of the stream. Plus, I skipped all the DUST content because I'm not all that interested in it. That was most of fanfest it seemed.

As far as the "expansions," I don't really consider them expansions anymore. Besides Apocrypha and Incarna, I never get the sense they are expanding anything, just doing big patch fixes. All other games I've played expansions mean a whole new area to the game that is new. I guess the FW changes were expansions as well but my expectations for "expansions" aren't really that high. Great stuff in Odyssey, but it's not really expanding much to the game. I really would like to see another Apocrypha type expansion sometime soon.
