Collecting has been my life-long profession in EVE Online and the recent launching of the EVE Online 10th Anniversary Collector's Edition provides "treasures to satiate desires both subtle and gross."

Having purchased most of the Collector's Editions for major MMOs out there (yes, including $1,000 WoW original), I can say this with 150% confidence that EVE Online's Collector's Edition provides players with the most amazing ingame items ever:

A permanent Golden Pod?
Race specific costumes?
Amazing Dust items?
Highly collectible 10th anniversary ship BPC?
Unique skinned Magnate?
Unique Thrasher (pre-order special)?

This is a dream come true for all the collectors out there.

I just preordered my Collector's Edition.

Have you? This is a cause worth boasting about. Show your support!

How many pre-orders are available? Is this limited, or can EVERYONE active have one?

At the moment, CCP hasn't specified on the number of the copies issued, but it would be nice if CCP could provide answer.

I understand that WoW is not EVE, but when Blizzard issued the original Collector's Edition, there were approximately 10,000 in circulation.

As many suckers as they can find? Lol

Well, if that's what you get for posting the instructions three hours earlier, guess I'll keep things to myself next time.

Hey, hey, don't be upset *offers a virtual hug*

Wouldn't have figured out how to work around the problem without you. I made the quoted topic as a lot of people seemed to be ignoring your instructions at first (probably couldn't find it?) - I should've credited you on it, I apologize.

First read was -- "OMGWTF! (*flies off to locators*)"

Now you get a space-like. Also, standing down the locators.Cool

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

Perhaps we are all suckers in real life, but we get redeemed in EVE Online. Owners of the Collector's Edition will be glorified and worshipped for the next ten years.

Well, just bought the CE.

And my brain is swimming in happy-stuff now, either because of the golden pod, the fact that i left with only 1$ in one of my accounts, or the fact that i just spent 150 bucks on a godlen pod.

either way, with the shipping its gonna arrive at my house on my birthday in november, YAY.

This post made me sad about EVE to be honest. Getting people to spend 150 quid on a different coloured pod and other stuff and what's worse they seem to be targetting people who can't even spell "golden"

I actually do feel a mix between pity and sadness for everyone who buys this cheap tat.

I'm hoping that the core pieces are numbered. I like my Heart of the Swarm art book, makes it even more special having the code on the back for authenticity. Big smile

Despite being very excited about the Golden Pod and Nefantar Thrasher, it's the physical items I'm most looking forward to; Dat Rifter USB hub is beautiful.

That Rifter is the part of the kit I least want - I don't like plastic statuettes or collectibles or any of those dust magnets in my house! I'm looking forward to playing the Danger Game. Maybe I can find someone I know who wants the Rifter.

Different strokes for different folks I guess!

Ever since I started playing Eve the Rifter has been my favourite hull so it's kickass to get a physical model, and a useful one at that too!

This is a monumental event worthy of celebration. $150 for all these ingame and physical goods is quite a deal and surely a deal that will not be available for another decade.

Rejoice and take this opportunity to be part of this most exquisite fraternity in the world; being the owners of the most unique Collector's Edition.

I'll give you $15 and a bottle of Left Hand Sawtooth Ale, for the Rifter. I can give it to my girlfriend so she can use it as a usb hub at her office....

I bought it mainly for the USB Hub, Symphony, and book (well, the danger game looks interesting too).

Going on "good quality" stuff (i.e. not the $2 USB hubs you can find)

USB Hub -> $15 - $20 (obviously, none of them are as awesome as a Rifter model)
Symphony -> $15 - $20 (based off what Orchestral / special edition CDs cost ... like "Wicked" or "Phantom of the Opera")
Book -> $40+
Danger Game -> $15-$30 (based on board game prices)

so, this means that we're spending about $85-110 on the physical stuff (non-eve/CCP versions). Figure since it's "special edition" / "limited release" type stuff (i.e. you're not gonna see the Rifter or book in the EVE Store) then they could command a higher price, putting the physical things probably solidly in the $100-120 range ... in which case, we're spending $50 on

3 dropsuits (DUST)
3 guns (DUST)
1 drop link (DUST)

1 Thrasher (EVE)
1 Magnate (EVE)
1 golden pod

??? mystery items over the next 10 years. Let's just say 10, because they get released around Fanfest.

Seems a good deal to me, though I wish that they would have also been taking pre-orders for the other two books (the comic and other hardcover), because I'd have bought those right then too.

Another question arieses.

I have 2 main accounts, one male avatar, one female. Will I be able to take the female avatar clothes from one of them and give to the other? Not going to use them both on one unless CCP allow me to go cross dressing Blink

Well... I wouldn't call it the best Collectors Edition "ever in the history of mmorpg's", but it is nice.

I pre-ordered it on Amazon, looking forward to getting it. :)

I wonder if the BPC will end up valued more than the 5 Gnosis? The Gnosis gets given to everyone (I think?), the BPC is only in the CE

I'm still hoping the CE could have a hard copy of the game, even though it's not likely (it's not listed in the contents), so here's some fun maths

I both live in Australia and need to use wireless internet (wireless modem connects to PC via USB)

For the price my ISP charges per MB, I'd pay two hundred and forty AUD to download the ~16MB? EVE client. The CE costs one hundred and eighty AUD including shipping

ouch ... though the client is more like 5GB, not 16MB ;) (note, this is the offline installer packages, not sure if there are any patches needed after running the installer though).

could definitely fit on a DVD and get shipped to you ... though with us getting patches every 6 months, I kinda doubt that it'd do you any good...

megabyte is not gigabyte. durr, benny, durr

ah, i just looked at the 'ccp' folder in program files for the file size. but i downloaded the client at an internet cafe who probably pay less for cable 'net than i do for wireless :D
