I saw something that I didn't expect in local in Rens just last night, and it brought a warm fuzzy feeling to my heart (to match the warm fuzzy feeling in my stomach from the whiskey):

A Pilot, we'll call him Pilot A, offered a Maelstrom fitted with 3 T1 rigs for 150M in local, and Pilot B told him that he'd accept.

Apparently Pilot A convinced Pilot B to trade in station, with ISK being given straight to his wallet, and not into the trade window.

About 2 minutes later, Pilot B (now out 150M ISK) politely asked for his ship; others in local asked what happened, tell him he was scammed, and several pilots start trashing Pilot A and saying that he has no honor.

A few minutes after that, while Pilot A is still being trashed (in his defense, Pilot B wasn't whining much), Pilot A himself comes on in local and says "Sorry, I got a phone call, was AFK for a couple of minutes" and admits that there was no mistake made, Pilot B lost his ISK because station trading is never safe. Pilot A explains exactly what happened to pilot B, and tells him that he hoped something had been learned.

Pilot C then comes on, when it appears that Pilot A is not going to give Pilot B the ship, and offers Pilot B a Maelstrom for FREE via private contract. Pilot A says "Hang on, I was drawing up a private contract for the ship to Pilot B" and then actually links the contract in local for everyone to see as proof.

Long story short, Pilot A taught Pilot B a valuable lesson, but then DIDN'T TAKE THE ISK that he so easily could have.

But there's more!

Several of us talk about the first scam we ever fell for - mine was just a couple of days ago, and it was a bummer. A friend gave me ISK to purchase +4 implants and I lost nearly all of it, falling for one of the oldest tricks in the book (of course). I couldn't even afford a rifter.

Surprise! I immediately received 200,000 ISK in my wallet from one pilot (go buy yourself a rifter, he said!) and two private contracts from other players, giving me rifters for free. I laughed and told everyone in local that I didn't need 3 rifters, and they all told me to keep them, enjoy them, and lose them honorably someday in combat.

Thank you everyone in Rens Local for a heartwarming day - it surely more than made up for the bad feelings about this game I had when I was scammed, and everyone in local was talking about it for a while.

I'm not going to retype it, just know it was insulting you pathetic tear mongering group of toddlers. Crawl back to the soul-less cold hole where you and people like you belong.

At least there are still some people who can keep their word and commit. Gumption that You (and people like you) clearly don't have and never will.
