Anyone else misses Jesus features?

I don't care how broken and unfinished they were, they brought excitement with each new expansion.
We had 4 expansions without them, and even though I appreciate the countless improvements done to the game, I really want something new to play with Sad

Not complaining, just asking if anyone else feels like this.

Odyssey is filled with things that I don't think most people consider to be "jesus features" and yet there is a tremendous amount of excitement over the patch.

It's also hard to look at Odyssey and say there's nothing "new". Exploration revamps are pretty new, I'd say. Tiericide results in a lot of newness as it shakes up the metagame, too.

The only "Jesus feature" I've experienced was Incarna, and let's just say I was a bit disappointed because it was also my first impression of what an EVE expansion was. Thankfully CCP has moved towards providing great content and improvements.

CCP has no sense of humour.

Wouldn't call them Jesus features, but yes, I am excited for Odyssey.
When I first started playing the game I hoped it would allow me to roam the stars seeking treasures and fighting off baddies.
The game quickly turned into spreadsheets.

I would say wormholes would be considered one.

No, these are necessary changes. Not really content. I believe the OP wants something shiny and interesting, and I do concur. However, it has to be taken into account that we're experiencing ship revamps; can't really introduce a new class right now unless it's a really niche thing without upsetting the process.

Hmm, not sure what you're talking about.

We asked for the little things and CCP listened.

I do quite a bit. I remember when Incursions were added as a jeasus feature. also maybe wormholes. The jeasus features were huge changes that brought real and interesting dynamics to the game. Wish they'd come back

Apocrypha was a particularly feature-rich expansion, with lots of new "content" in the form of 2500 new systems to explore. There was no "Jesus" feature in Apocrypha. The whole point of a "Jesus feature" was that it would be something that would draw people to the game in such huge numbers that it would be worth betting the company on. The only "Jesus" feature we've had was Incarna, and that was delivered in such a feature-poor state (only 1 flavour of CQ, and only the CQ was available) that it turned a large number of people (devs and players alike) right off Incarna.

Nobody misses Jesus features. Some of us do pine for what Incarna could have been, if it hadn't been cut down, trampled and buried before it could bear fruit.

After 4 expansions of little things I think something new wouldn't hurt.
I would say Odyssey is close enough.

I think seagul was hinting at a return of jesus features with the new stargates to a new type of space. Also I don 't know if dust could be considered a jesus feature or not. They're definitely adding a bunch of stuff to eve around it.

My guess is that they're building toward new, big stuff, with the colonization development arc.

Is it bad that I hope this gives me a chance to have an ant farm?

Yeah, basically this. New features are great. But they need to be solid and properly implemented, not overreaching and half working in the hopes of attracting new players.

Dust and EVE would probably be affecting each other much more than they do now if the players weren't so vocal and negative about Dust.
Its much more calm now than before, so hopefully they start pushing the link.

You said it yourself, "exploration revamp". How can a revamp of anything be called new? Take a can of Pepsi, revamp it to Pepsi Zero. It's still Pepzi, just with less calories. Compared to the release of the original Pepsi, it is nothing. That's the problem with recent EVE expansions. An expansion that adds 4 new ships and tweaks the balance of 20 old ones just doesn't measure up to an expansion that releases 20 new ships that perform roles that didn't even exist before.

Same with tiericide. It is a "re-balance'. Tweaking the existing content. It can't be called "new". Well, you sorta* can, but not really. I mean, you could claim that Amarr battleship being tuned into a drone boat is "new". I guess it is, in a way. But at the same time, the hull is mostly old, drones are nothing new, nor are the rest of the stuff. So while technically we get a "new ship", a battleship with drones and cap warfare bonuses that didn't exist before, is it really 100% new? When all it is is a maxi-Arbitrator, the same way as Dragoon is the mini-Arby?
