Looking to buy a new mouse for eve with some programmable buttons, at the moment I use a Logitech wireless m705 mouse, it is absolutely fine however it does not really have any buttons to program. I like Logitech gear and was thinking of the Logitech g700 has anyone got any eve experience with this mouse?

thanks

Logitech makes some good gear, they've been a staple in my house for years.

if you're feeling adventurous, I suggest giving a trackball a try. I've found I respond much quicker with one of those in EVE, than a regular mouse.

Had an old style MX Revolution, lost the charger in moving (well, I have an idea where it is, but :effort: and a touchy battery). The new one isn't as nice (they replaced teh thumbwheel with another button).

Running with another one of theirs (forget what it's called atm), fewer buttons (7-10 programmable) and no thumbwheel... but enough for eve.

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

Razer Naga is truly awesome for eve with lots of buttons for drones, broadcasts, warp to, orbit etc.

i heard the naga was quite flimsy? I have an old Logitech g15 keyboard I plug this into my laptop at times, the other thought I had was to get the smaller g13 gaming keypad thing to assign keys to it, I suppose now would be a a good time to wonder if using one of the breaks ccp eula thing?

logitech keyboard macros are fine (provided that you're not automating something), since you have to press the button.

e.g. have "open nearest POS fuel Bay as [CTRL]+[ALT]+F or something", program G1 to that key combo is OK.

I've gone through 4 Logitech Performance MX in the last 2 years.
Every one of them has started to click unreliably after 4-6 months.
Double clicking on single click, not registering clicks, not holding clicks.
One was the left button, 3 were the right.
Have a broken one sitting in front of me now, waiting to be replaced.
Could be the tropical environment, everything corrodes here.

If I didn't have a replacement warranty on them I would have stopped after the second.
But they feel just right for my hand and it's nice to have wireless + wired options.
Always accurate tracking.

Well, i'm using the Razer stuff now.

The Lycosa keyboard with glossy keys is awesome. Imperator mouse is fine too, although i have some glithches with the wheel after a couple of years. I've thought it'll be a little more durable.

Well, there is no need to buy super-precise or fast mouse, like for FPS, or with many buttons, like for some WoW or STO...
It's just has to be a comfortable mouse which you can use for hours. So try it yourself and google some info...

in 2007 i've thought it's a sci-fi simulator, not an "e-sports" game. I'm not a teenager, how would i like it much?

I use a rather cheap Sharkoon Fireglider. Just don't get the glossy fire design one, it's annoying in warm weather. The black matte one would be better.

Been considering scrapping my glossy one for the black matte....

In a few moments you will have an experience that will seem completely real. It will be the result of your subconscious fears transformed to your conscious awareness.

though I have been using the Logitech G300 recently, as I wrote about in "Mousing is Serious Business" Lol Though I need to update it with mention that I'm also suffering the multiple-or-no-clicks issue reported by Alternate Poster earlier in this thread.

That has to be the best mouse they ever made. I especially miss the feature where if you spin the wheel fast enough, a motor will automatically unlock the ratchet mechanism and let it freewheel. All their new mice just have some stupid button that always gets jammed. Not sure why the replaced it, mine turned out to be more robust than the charging mechanism.

I replaced mine with a g700. it's not bad, the extra buttons are nice, and it's portable between computers somewhat by being able to store binds in memory and having a slot in the battery compartment for the receiver, but it always seems a bit finicky, and I miss the thumb-wheel a bit (I am a button whore, so my ideal mouse would have the four thumb buttons PLUS the thumb wheel and extra finger buttons)

Quite a coincidence. I used to have an MX518, moved to a G300. It broke down though. Bad luck probably, back to my MX now.

e: Also having the same 'click' issue. So I guess it's just sucky hardware?

Same here! I swear by this little indestructible mouse. I've had the same one for 6 years now and the little Logitech symbol has all the black worn away. I was even so worried that they would stop making them that i have 2 spare sitting in their boxes.

Best mouse ever.

I use a G700 and I'm quite happy with it. It has a cord for recharging or you can use it wirelessly, decent weight and shape imo, and I love being able to program the buttons. I have dock, align, and close window on the thumbs. Another nice feature is being able to scroll the wheel without clicks, that makes zooming or moving up and down long market windows so much easier.
