it is your fault that you made that stupid suggestion in your post. If you want to make something mobile and want a broad set of customers you dont make something that only works on an ipad (which still sounds like a digital period bandage)

And they shouldn't put anything in an app that can change anything from/to your eve character. They can do it like dust, affect the world or manufacturing, make a mini game for PI or something but it shouldnt be able to change things like skillqueues. Log into eve to do stuff with your eve character....

I don't care as I don't own an iPad, but your bitterness is showing. I think iPad is a fine idea because it tends to be the more utilized of those tablets.

As in the user base is quite larger...

According to this website they were majority of the tablet sales in 2012 in the USA:

http://www.statista.com/statistics/180656/sales-of-tablets-and-ipads-in-the-us-until-2012/

Don't be so mad. Its just your preference isn't the majorities.

Looking to talk on VOIP with other EVE players? Are you new and need help with EVE (welfare) or looking for advice? Looking for adversarial debate with angry people?

Well, personally i'd be very happy to see the following things...

1. An app for managing stuff in EVE.
1.1 If there is no connection with TQ, the app is still works offline with most of the functions.
1.2 The skill manager, with a function to add them to the queue.
1.3 Skill book injection.
1.4 The market. For traiding, or buying the new skills.
1.5 The communications, althoug the current EVEMail through EVEGate is fine.
2. Some game to maybe earn some isk using the iPad only. For example, a PI stuff, or a new game, like those browser strategy ones(Galaxy online 2 anyone? :))

So the idea is to be able to live some months or years with the tablet only Roll While traveling, for example. Or just bored of the game at the moment...

*removes ipad and puts tables*

There I fixed it stop bickering about the little stuff.. you would be ignorant to think CCP wouldn't support all tablets, if anything they will support ipad last because it costs to submit apps to the market....

Anyway...

Yes those features would all be outstanding and id hazard a guess most of them are already in their backlog... for at least design.

Ima throw this out there; How about a full game client with cut down graphics?

Large tablets have the screen pixel resolutions and the tap/drag/pinch interface. Sure you probably wouldn't PVP using it but you might be able to do most things.

Market order modifications through the API open up a whole can of worms that really should't be opened. Skill queue management would be pretty cool though, especially on a limited connection.

CCP has no sense of humour.

Simply making them web based would allow these "apps" to work on any platform. Why waste a ton of time developing the same app to work on multiple platforms when the standards to do it already exist separate from the hardware?

For the record; I no longer own any mobile or tablet device that could run these apps, so that might make me a bit biased in my opinionSmile

I posted my thoughts here
https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=2962361#post2962361

I want to see the CREST api linked up enough that anything you can do in a station can be done through an app, web site, third-party program (eg. EveMon), etc. linked to CREST.

They should have CREST apps on every tablet and phone platform as well as a web based platform to cover all of their bases

any particular reason that only iPads get the actual gameplay advantage or is it just post-purchase rationalisation?

No, i'm just like it more, thinking about buying the iPad mini - it's finally have a acceptable size for me Big smile
But of course is better to make it available for the broad variety of devices.

Ahahahahahahahaha! Just so I get the straight. Just because YOU are getting a ipad, makes YOU think that YOU should be the only one to get a game that gives isk? Ahahahahaha well YOU are pretty stupid.

Firstly this will not come out. Second, this is one of the dumbest posts I have seen from a rather intelligent player base.

Goodbye.

Now, these are all good ideas, except the last one. And all of these should only be active if the current account is subscribed. Using the market with the tablet app, is a very bad idea. Giving players a reason not to log on is NEVER a good idea. Less activity.

Goddamit. It's fuggen OBVIOUS that the idea is not for Apple only.

Which devices to support is a different and less important topic.

in 2007 i've thought it's a sci-fi simulator, not an "e-sports" game. I'm not a teenager, how would i like it much?

i think what ever CCP do it should follow a few rules.

1. it should be available for everyone. So if its an App it should for for all platforms or better still make it a web option.
2. it should'nt offer chances to make isk faster than you could in game.
3. It should'nt make installing the eve client redundant. Would be a shame if eve turned into a ISK making tablet mini game option, with no need to ever log in to eve fully.

3D grid-based POS "fitting" tool, where you can arrange your structures, import to eve, and have the pos automatically lay them for you. Then it's just a matter of anchoring and onlining.

A man can dream...

There's nothing worse than an EVE player, generally considered to be top of the food chain in the MMO world, that cannot smacktalk with wit and coherency.

CCP should develop CREST + more and empower us, the users, to make the mobiles apps. This allows CCP to focus unrelentingly on their core business, which is improving Eve to attract new subscribers and keep us bitter vets happy.

Spending too much time on Eve "Mobile" has more dangers than rewards. Remember Incarna.

Regarding functionality, I would say that mobile functions should allow us (through 3rd party apps) to interact with our character (skill queues), corp & alliance (view & create contracts) and potentially anything else you could do from a station (market, science & industry). Things it should never do: replace or allow any interaction that requires you be undocked or in space. Speak in local.

As one poster above said:

1. It SHOULD provide access to New Eden outside of launching the full client

2. It SHOULD provide additional options for Eve Players.

3. It SHOULD NOT give a distinct advantage in game over non-mobile version users.

4. It SHOULD be optional.

Stuff like EVEmon/EFT are good in the sense that they add value to the player who uses them, but are not critical to success ingame.

I would imagine a more advanced version of EVE-Gate, possibly with integrated Chat options, and maybe the option to update skill queues? Also, integration or consolidation of what's currently out there would be good, stuff like skill queue planner, fitting tools, communication, item databases, asset viewers etc.

The option to change market orders is a bit sketchy IMO, but being able to check market sell/buy orders (view only) might be useful.

Edit: for the record I'm neither for nor against this, and own the gadgets required if these were to come into place.

yes because the market for this would be the US only right?
IDC figures showed Android accounted for 56.5 percent of tablet sales worldwide.

And no I don't own a tablet nor am I planning on getting one, I can do everything I want with my PC's, Laptops and my phone.
