Collector's edition gold pods: permanent? lost when you die? moveable between alts?

So, the collector's edition that has been announced looks awesome and includes loads of goodies, both in-game and physical. One of these is a gold pod. Most in-game goodies will be things that you can use if you want to or, not (ships can be kept in a hangar, DUST equipment can be not used, clothes can be not selected etc) but, it isn't clear to me if the same is true of the gold pod. Ideally I'd like to have it sometimes but, be able to switch it off. My fears are two-fold. Firstly, I think that, while it might be cool sometimes, it might also look a bit garish. Secondly, I think it might make people with it a target for being podded.

Ideally, it'd be like ships in that you can decide to enter it or leave it and return to a normal capsule. Ideally, I'd be able to transfer it to an alt if I decided that it suited them more, like you can with ships too (if it just bound to one character and couldn't be transferred to an alt, I'd have a very hard time choosing which character to use it with).

It'd be good if someone from CCP could clarify how it will work. It'd also be good if they could clarify that you don't lose the gold pod if you're podded.

The Gold Pod will be a permanent pod skin update for one character in your account(s). That's what I've heard thus far.

Does permanent in this context mean that it can't be switched off or, just that it isn't lost when you get podded?

Ah but I think the question that is more likely to be asked is this: will a gold pod kill show up as a gold pod in the killmail?

The funny thing is. If the 'gold pod' is a permanent change, then having it show up on the killmail is meaningless other than for vanity... much like paying for a gold pod in the first place.

Having permanent 'premium' assets in Eve is utterly reprehensible but I doubt CCP care enough to do anything about it.

why is it reprehensible? its literally just chaniging the color of your pod to something that satnds out better against the grim darkness of the far-off future.

but in all seriosness, it effects gameplay nill, it provides nill, it takes away nill, all it does is show people you payed 150 bucks for a game you already own. your one of those people who hate on the aurum store, despite it ebing vanity only, arent you?

It's purely a cosmetic item that has absolutely no effect on gameplay so, what's the problem? Why is it so terrible?

Oh, I forgot, anything new or different that you don't agree with MUST be terrible, right? Roll

Yeah, I hear a Golden Pod will have twice the EHP of a normal pod and can fit a doomsday. But seriously, you have that big of a problem with a vanity item?

Unless the glare of the sun off the polished golden pod reflects perfectly and strikes your camera drone directly on the lens and scrambles its sensors and makes your screen go black then there is no reason to be upset. P

If the gold pod is actually called "Gold Pod" in the overview then that's going to be the very first pod popped, allowing other pods a chance of escape.
