Believe what?

I believe there are purple unicorns flying between the Bermuda Portal and Russel's Teapot. In fact, it's absolutely ridiculous for you all to fight my beliefs. Saying I'm crazy is an act of aggression against by beliefs. If you do not believe with me then you are just grabbing at any way you can to find the slightest fault with my very solid and sound beliefs. Also, my arrogance, ignorance, and inability to listen to alternate viewpoints without becoming enraged are further examples of why I know what I'm talking about and anyone who disagrees with me is a blathering idiot.

Each to their own.

In Europe you would in some rare, though becoming more common explain the concept of a God in the first place. Theists are becoming more likely to have to justify why do not believe in repeatable observations and statistics more than a centuries old book.

We don't have to explain anything. We only have to justify our believes to ourselves.

The very sun of heaven seemed distorted when viewed through the polarising miasma welling out from this sea-soaked perversion, and twisted menace and suspense lurked leeringly in those crazily elusive angles of carven rock where a second glance shewed concavity after the first shewed convexity.

Then why are you here?

And that answer made way too much sense now I think about it.

On the Eve forums? Because I play the game.

I'll put this bluntly for future reference.

I stay out of the few [shortlived, due to rules] religious threads, as besides the fact they are against the forum rules they are discussing something for which I care not. I can contribute nothing to them, only friction that brings no interesting discussion nor does it contribute in any way to keeping the thread above bar.

I implore you to follow this example, and keep out of threads in which you feel you would specifically spread friction and nothing else. As an alternative to opening a thread and leaving something like this behind-

Angelique Duchemin wrote:

Which, unlike your own personal beliefs, is entirely opinionated bull excrement designed to raise a debate which will cause a whole lot of friction.

You should instead, and promptly, dismiss the thread, and move on. Bringing Antitheism into a discussion about Astronomy, or an Astronomer in particular, is about as welcome as me bringing up Astronomy in a religious thread. This is not a case of contrary opinions not allowed, this is a case of "let's not drudge up peoples belief systems at all".

And, Especially no doing so in Out of Pod experience please. I have a hard enough time tolerating some of the crap that is perfectly in line with the rules.

Cheers.

Posting in yet another anit-Christian hate thread.

Im getting real tired of all these self called atheist and their war on Chrisitanity becuase they chose to live immoral lives. You are not athiests, you are heathensof youre own religion, declaring war on youre God in our name. If you disagree with something youre church preaches, go find another church. Don't come running over here and claimed you're a victimized atheist. You're an amoral Christian. You still beleive in God. It shows. If you were an atheists, you haven't this war on God and God's word, because a true Atheist wouldn't declare war on something that doesn't exist.

Stop using suedo atheism as excuse to bash those you hate, it's disgusting.
Science was created by Christians to learn about the world God created for them. Science is now defiled by the fact it's moved away from it's Christian roots of exploring God's world, and gotten in bed with secular governments who use Grants and loans as carrots to get science to "discover" whatever it wants them to discover. Peer review? Doesnt exist. It's a bully pulpit to beat down dessimation. How did they get 90% of the science communtiy to go along with Global Warming? Easy Al Gore and all hisr followers (of equal zealousness of any religion) to threaten them with pulling of their government grants and university funding> That got many of them...and the rest cowered under pressure for fear of being fired or black-listed.

Like a non-practicing Christian who still believes in God, but has lost faith in the teachings of the church, I am a non-practising Atheist, I still believe in science, but have lost total faith in the science community to be objectionable.

Youre post would have been relevant if posted 3rd or 4th, it's to late to claim youre wanna-be moderator high ground now.

Edit: and case in point, if this had become an anti-muslim, anti-jew, anti-hindu, anti any but Christian this thread would have been closed pronot, as they always are, but since it's christian, i will go on for another 20 pages before it dies it's own death of boredom as yet another anti-chrisitan rant pops up in another thread and everyne goes running over there.

Look, I cannot explain in few enough words to retain your attention whilst I school you, so just do what I told you to do before someone actually does it for you.

I can be outright insulting if I want to be, but I've decided to approach this sensitively which is more than I can say for you and your kin have. Your buddy started this on post 2, nobody else, so your side takes the penalty. Git oot.

Edit: Actually, seeing the rationalism your buddy has, I'm directing this entirely at you instead.

I was arguing perspectives on arguing and flipping perspectives on arguements with current statistics, no idea what he's arguing.

My dad would have loved Neil DeGrasse Tyson. He loved astronomy and space exploration almost as much as I did, maybe more way back before I knew him. He would always come home with space exploration magazines, and together we would go over the most exciting updates of the space program. Tyson is like Carl Sagan in that he has a way with words that, when combined with his experience as an astrophysicist, points out the beauty and majesty of space exploration.

I grew up not knowing that anyone had ever considered space exploration to be tied with atheism or antitheism. My dad was strongly Christian and he studied that religion almost as much as he studied space. I was brought up as a Christian, and I never saw any cognitive dissonance between believing in God and exploring space. In fact, if anything, it seems more confirmation of His wonder than anything else. Perhaps one of the biggest things that pulled me away from religion in my early years was the realization that people at my church wanted me to stop exploring. So maybe I left Christianity not because I felt it was incorrect, but because I felt it had bad ethical teachings.

My Bible Thumping Father was the one who dragged me into the backyard at night with a telescope.

telling people to edit their post to suit youre viewpoint and leave the thread isnt exactly being sensitive.

For real. Is it not just incredible?

Science and Religion CANNOT address each other. At all.

It's as useless as airline pilots giving advice about sailing a boat.

I would take issue with this, gotta be pretty thankful that Sully was good though with his plane to use it for a boating exercise...

And they cannot actually address each other, each has their own domain and when one crosses into the other it causes this kind of friction. Part of the problem is that we live in an era where technology is advancing faster than theology can react which is what I think if bringing it to the foreground like this. Well, in a few cases anyway, the Vatican has quite the advanced viewpoint on evolution and Astrophysics.

Boating Exercise Lol

Yeah about the Vatican. Sadly, these anti-science loons tend to be Protestants from Southern American States. I blame the education system and preachers both.
