The title of this thread is a joke, like the author.

His ego must be weighing him down. Didnt i pop you in a nub ship a few days ago....pirate king? LMFAO. Wet bag of hot air would be more appropriate.

I guess no csm for the pirate king either. LOL

So if I do all the piratey things and live by your arbitrary pirate code but bother to spend some down time ratting then I'm not a pirate. You guys are even more absurd than Monk's OP ...and he was going for absurd.

So what exactly are you doing as the same thing? Shooting people you're at war with? because that's war declaration, pirates don't wait 24 hours to kill someone nor do they pay for it.

Also if you're gonna say you're a pirate cause you shoot blues... just god dammit. I think i'm gonna follow kanes advice and just not read this anymore..

If you feel like a awesome pirate in high sec behind concord, shooting blues or whatever. Be sure to tell mommy how much of a good boy you are.

Be sure to keep up that elitism over your chosen activity in a VIDEO GAME! Do you realize how sad it is to hold your action in a damn game as more elite and more "hardcore".

Traditionally, the definition of piracy encompassed the destruction/ransom of economic assets. Pirates would do their business while flying the "Jolly Rodger", showing that they were not operating under a nations flag. They would avoid actual conflict with armed/military boats, as there was no value in that. They were, actually, kind of rare.

The more typical "pirate" was the privateer, who operated under a letter of marque from a government, which gave them allowance to attack another nations economic targets. As you would expect, a letter of marque was not recognized by the attacked nation, ergo, the privateers of Spain were classed as simple pirates by the English.

Today, we have the well-known and infamous Somali pirates, who use stealth and subterfuge to attack economic ships, in order to ransom back the crews and sell the cargo on the black market.

I'd say what Monk does falls square into the definition of piracy. He attacks economic targets for his own benefit. He often uses stealth or subterfuge to engage his targets.

"True EVE Piracy" is...pretty far away from the definition. The Lowsec "True" EVE Pirate seems to be more defined as "I'm a person willing to pull the trigger first in PVP, and pod you if I can"

7.2 CAN I AVOID PVP COMPLETELY? No; there are no systems or locations in New Eden where PvP may be completely avoided. --Eve New Player Guide

TIL simply because I kill duders in Low Sec, and have an abysmally low sec status (3rd lowest in EVE) that I am a pirate; even though if you pay me, for a ransom I will never offer, you will still get blown the **** up...

Holy lack of reading comprehension, Batman!

You're issuing arbitrary conditions on what is defined as piracy. I'm refusing those conditions and say that things are more...fluid. No, I don't think that all wardecs are piracy. But I do think that some are. Privateers in the old days were pirates with a license, and were treated as pirates if caught by the opposing nation. I don't think that safaris are piracy. I consider them to be corp theft.

I'll hand you a clue here: I lived in w-space for a year, most of that time operating solo. I could easily dismiss what you do as easy mode, what with the crutches of real-time local and neutral stations and intel channels. But I don't, because I understand that every part of space has its own challenges that make it fun for those who choose to embrace them.

But hey, you just keep sitting there patting yourself on the back about your superiority because you adhere to your very narrow code of acceptable piracy.
