I am from Iceland my self and I can confirm that Icelanders are, sorry to say douche bags (including me). I did attend to fanfest Saturday night and I can safely say all the eve players treated everybody with up most respect, and I'm proud to say that the eve community is very mannered.

I am going to be honest, The civility of most of the eve players, especially some of the ones I knew in game, surprised me a great deal. Eve players truly are the nicest out there and I surely hope that the Dust514 group doesn't ruin that as we all know the stigma around FPS players.

Hlynurth weren't you the one who not only tackled a good PL dude while he tried to take a bio brake moving to a different pub, but then later that same night tried to poison the same good dude? Is this the normal behavior of icelanders?

This is true, me and Hedliner created a special bond (no homo) and the events of the night have been rated 2-2, this shall continue next year and i shall be the victor. And yes this is normal behaviour for drunk Icelanders.

Shockingly we all seem pretty nice out of the game. But once we are in the game we are pretty ruthless and blood thirsty.

I subscribe to the same theory as many others.

Eve allows us to be just as complete bastards as can be, so we don't have any need to be that outside Eve.

Imagine people in game forming a queue and follow common rules.

Without at least half of us trying to game the system or send alts to gank the ones in front of us ;)

And some people trying to sell fake places in said queue ...

it's also possible that it's the other way around:
We are such scheming bastards in Eve because we are such nice, well behaved and polite people in RL ;)

CCP Greyscale: As to starbases, we agree it's pretty terrible, but we don't want to delay the entire release just for this one factor.

I never saw 1 physical fight the entire time which I thought was amazing considering the amount of alcohol and boy / girl ratio!

Eve nerds are nicer in RL than in game I guess :)

Wish I was there, exam season at the moment.... Any word on the date of 2014 Fanfest? Oops

May 1-3 2014 :D

I'm already making plans for that to be honest. I'm absolutely kicking myself that I missed it this year, same mistake won't be made next year :)

Then you are no where as nice as I am (and most of the other eveplayers are) in real life P

Guard, why do you post it here? You know it's the section where threads are left to die.

Trying to be a good boy and heed the forum rules... :P

What happened to the guy from Permaband? You know, the gangsta with bling bling and guns. He doesn't heed any silly forum rules Big smile

He earned his sword. Have to say that is a very cool tradition. Gold watch? Pfffttt... I want to work for CCP, they get swords!

And people said violent video games create violent people...

Welcome to the violent, dark world of Eve Online where players say please and thank you and clean off their tables after eating.

Eve lets me work out my need to conquor the world and exterminate the foolish before I do it in real life. (Thats a joke by the way incase anyone suspects I'm about to go on a rampage Oops )

Makes you wonder how world history would have gone if Hitler or Napoleon has had Eve to blow off steam instead of trying to conquer Europe....

EDIT : Why is Napoleon allowed when Hitler isn't? They were monsters, who else, Genghis Khan?
