Hi, I am buying a new PC and will transfer Eve across to this when it arrives.
Does anyone know if I need to transfer any files from my old PC to the new one?
or do I simply put a new install of Eve onto my machine and log in?
Thanks for the help if you can

You can both install or copy the client over without problems.

As for settings, such as overview and channels, you'd need to copy the eve stuff in your AppData IIRC. I'm not quite sure if this is the right folder though so I hope someone else can confirm/correct this.

If you are interested in saving you settings, bookmarks, etc. You have to save you EVE folder in APPData.

You can achieve that by pressing the following hot key: WIN + R to open the run dialog. Now type in %Appdata% and press enter.
Go one folder level up, to AppData and then click on the Local folder. There you will find a folder named CCP, this is what you need to save. So the path is: C:\Users\YOUR USERNAME\AppData\Local\CCP.

Some month ago I formated my PC and saved the CCP folder. After the new installation I copied the folder back to this position and all worked fine. You will have your Bookmarks, Overview Settings etc..

To 'properly' do this.

-Prestep-
+Export your Overview
+Patch up EVE one last time before transfer

Install EVE using the 'torrenting' version.
http://content.eveonline.com/514947/EVE_Online_Installer_514947.exe

After it begins to download the game files exit out and copy over (replacing EVERYTHING) the full install you had on the old PC. This way the registry entries get put in place.

This will also make the next folder you want to copy over

Run a Validation Check to be sure.

Go to My Documents\EVE

Copy everything over replacing everything you're prompted to replace.

Assuming you've gotten a successful game file transplant. Undock, because CCP won't let you modify the overview while sitting on your couch!Straight, and import your overview.

Most everything should be back. I don't think Keybinds are transferred in the above process. Window frames will also be at their default locations and sizes. Check the Game Settings to make sure Window frames will be locked while pinned or auto-stacking...whatever you had before. Color Themes also will not be transferred. Nor will hardware settings (obviously).

But that stuff is minor. You should be able to get back to where you were layout-wise in a few minutes.

PS: Remember to undock in a ship that has drones; that frame will be reset to default locations and may be near-impossible to move if you extend the Overview, like I do, all the way to the bottom of the screen.

Edit: in Appdata\Local\CCP

I have:
-EVE\
-->f_games_ccp_eve_online_tranquility\
------>cache\
------>settings\
-->Patches\
-->history.txt

You may want some of that. Like if you use the in-game web browser a lot...but I don't. So I exclude this entire folder section from transfer

How so? It's worked fine for me.

Then again, I don't make much changes. Just look over the 'game settings'. Undock and load up the overview export of mine and move the Overview Pane and Drone Pane.

Why not just copy a client over to a new PC?... Why hopping through all these loops? You don't have enough issues in your life as it is?
